Mental characteristics

Personal history

Jedek Arkan was a survivor of an unfortunate crash near the coast of Argantus. The Dwarven Kingdom took the survivors in, allowed them a respite while they gathered their wits and made plans to rebuild their lives or contact loved ones but Jedek was alone, and quite young still learning to speak in fact. A Dwarven Brewmaster by the name of Ferris Arkan took Jedek in, gave him a home and raised him as his own. Jedek would often deal with issues as his Human nature clashed with Dwarven traditions, being treated as a child even though he was well into his 20's and caused a strain between adopted son and father, prompting Jedek to join a life at sea, searching for freedom he felt denied to him. it was here the young man developed his talent at sailing, joining any crew that would have him. it wasn't long before Jedek claimed a ship of his own, and offered his services as a smuggler to any with the right among of coin. Jedek would make many foolish bargains with Orc Tribes and Khoven guilds for large sums of gold, which eventually led to him becoming a wanted man, avoiding the law of Krogar. without any clients to smuggle for Jedek turned to pirating, stealing goods from other ships to sell through less reputable sources he'd come to know. Many bounty hunters attempted to claim the ever growing sum of gold offered in return for Jedeks capture or death, Jedek often found a way to convince them to join the crew offering more gold than he was worth. This went on for years until Jedek was caught off guard by a group of well prepared mercenaries. The mercenaries boarded Jedeks own ship, and were very close to capturing the pirate alive, before Jedek ordered his crew to sink the enemy ship, stranding them alone on the deck of the Jester. Jedek offered them a deal then, they wouldn't capture or kill him and he'd return them safely to land. whether or not Jedek intended to follow through with this bargin was unknown, as the ship was crippled by a massive shark not long after, forcing the pirate to beach his ship near the frozen north of Krogar. few of the crew survived, and to Jedeks misfortune the mercenaries were among the survivors. Jedek knew the area vaguely, from his time dealing with the Orc tribes, and had no desire to stay for long. the group would spend a month evading the Orcs and the strange ancient creatures who survived in the wasteland in the heat of the Volcano. Jedek and company fled south, through the spider infested Forests to the Vanguard of The Ward, monstrous spiders the size of horses and even larger swarmed through those woods. Managing an escape at the sacrifice of the remainder of the crew, Jedek was left alone with the mercenaries who would attempt to lead Jedek south back to the city and turn him in for reward. along the way, they were waylaid by riders who captured the group and brought Jedek and the others to the nobles who'd hired them. it turned out these nobles were Vampires hiring man hunters to bring them live prey. Jedek would offer them his services, as a ship runner and pirate he could bring them all the goods they desired, finer things they might find lacking from simple man hunters. Jedeks desperate bargain again paid off, and he found new employ for the very nobles who had put the bounty on his head apparently. Jedek returned to the city, to find his new ship and crew, and a lavish apartment for his shore leave. Jedek spent much of his time there, and eventually purchased the entire building turning it into a lavish tavern where a party was constantly being held. It was during this time that Long Night struck, and Jedek was caught out at sea when the stars in the sky vanished and the sun grew dark. whether through luck or skill Jedek managed to land the ship along the ruins of Highgate, a sprawling city that hadn't been touched in centuries. Jedek found within those ancient rooms, a trinket that could guide him even in the darkness of Long Night. using this to his advantage, Jedek would sail northwest to Sya'Nau and steal a number of magic items from the unprepared Elven Royalty, including an Enchanted ship that sailed through the air. Jedek took advantage of the worlds plight, using the new Skyship to avoid conflict with the Shades and Demons that invaded the land stealing from the remains or attacking those who barely survived. It was here Jedek suffered his first major defeat in many years, as he was hired by the Dark Elves to find and kill a group of adventurers for a kings ransom. These adventurers were the Ascendants, foiling the Dark Elves plans to conquer a wounded world. Jedek used his trinket to find the safe haven of the Ascendant, the Ruins of Highgate, and stole their store of gold and magic items. in return The Ascendants used their magic to teleport aboard Jedeks ship and unleashed their fury, Jedek and the Dark Elf nobles who'd joined him in his hunt fought viciously with the Ascendant, but the Elven Nobles were slain. Sensing defeat, Jedek surrendered, and offered to return most of what he'd stolen. in return for a third of what he'd stolen he'd inform them of all he knew of those who hired him to kill them. Though Komia desired to simply slay Jedek and force the secrets from his corpse, Pharisane and Nameless agreed and Jedek told them all he knew. While the Ascendant offered Jedek the chance at redemption the Pirate declined, refusing to leave his ship and go underground on what he felt to be a suicide mission. Jedek vanished then for quite some time, apparently accidentally sailing his ship into a portal to the Plane of Air if his recounting is to be believed. There he played entertainer to the Djinn that ruled there in their sky palace. they were curious to the Pirates Sky Ship, having him race and duel their creations. There he earned a fortune as the Djinn's entertainer, by the time Jedek departed he'd traded in the Elven Skyship for a heavily enchanted ship carved from gold and gemstones. Jedek returned to Irindor, sailing the Legendary Ship of his to the center of Highgate, where the remnants of various kingdoms had been banded together under the Ascendant. Jedek used his unimaginable wealth to influence Highgate , dismantling the government that the Ascendant had put in place before their departure, rising the Merchants up as he did so. Jedek ruled as the defacto king of Highgate, using the wealth he'd brought and the wealth he made as owner of Highgate on every whim he could imagine, hiring expensive Clerics and Druids to expand his life to the fullest. it wasn't until very late in life Jedek sold his gilded ship to the Temple of Nine, in return for a pleasant afterlife. Jedek passed shortly after in his bed, surrounded by his Harem in Wine soaked sheets.
