Career
Qualifications
To become a Death Speaker, one must have died and been returned to life. Following that they are taken to the inner sanctum of the Living Shadow where they are transformed into full fledged Shades by Nabirus himself.
Career Progression
Becoming a Death Speaker is not one aspires to, they are chosen. Nabirus and the other Death Speakers decide who if any are returned to life following their death, and if they should become Shades or Death Speakers.
Payment & Reimbursement
Death Speakers reside within the inner Sanctum of the Living Shadow, where they are provided basic needs to sustain themselves.

Death Speakers are among the most powerful beings in Voss culture, both politically and magically.

Purpose
Death Speakers are thought to have a greater understanding of their dark Goddess' wants and needs having spent time beyond the veil. The Death Speakers serve as senior advisers to Nabirus, who uses the powers granted by Yheia to expand the influence of Shadow.

The Death Speakers have been as few as three , and as many as two hundred and fourteen.
History
The original Voss were all Death Speakers, resurrected by Yheia before her final ascension to Godhood. As the Living Shadow entered Godhood, she empowered the Death Speakers further, rising them above even other Shades to enact her will upon the Voss. Over time, the original Death Speakers were slain, or lost to madness and the need for new Death Speakers arose to enact Yheia's will. Without Death Speakers there could be no Shades, and without Shades the Voss would most certainly be destroyed within the Shadow. During the Age of Black Sun, when there were 214 Death Speakers, many traveled to the Prime Material to pollute the Plane with the essence of Shadow. This attempt to corrupt the Plane with Yhiea's godly essence did not go unnoticed, and many extrapolation creatures invaded the Material Plane to end the incursion. This led to the destruction of many Death Speakers, culling the number down to a mere 24, which Nabirus has not seen fit to rise since.
