Adamantine

The ultra hard substance found scattered seemingly at random throughout the world.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Adamantine was a deep purple metal.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Adamantine was an ultrahard metal found only in fragments of old armor and metorites.

Geology & Geography

Adamantine could only be found from metorites which colided into the planet. any time a metorite struck the surface, armies would be sent out to secure the valuable material. on occasion deep diggers would discover an Adamantine Metorite burried deep inside the earth.

Origin & Source

Adamantine is quite literally not of this world, found only in metorites from beyond the planet.

History & Usage

History

Adamantine was first found among the tribes of Orcs strangely enough, who would often use obsidian fragments in their early weapons stringing them together along sticks. Orcs mistook the Metal fragments for Obsidian in the dark, and used it to their advantage. it wasn't until the Dwarves struck down these early Orcs they Adamantine was discovered and began to be used properly. it would be another several decades before the substances was fully understood, and how to properly smith the metal.

Discovery

Adamantine was discovered by a nameless orc tribe lsot to history, but Addar is considered the dwarf to discover the substance, as he forged the first Adamantine tool from gathered fragments. a Smithing Hammer.

Everyday use

Adamantine is incredibly durable yet heavy, making it difficult to properly use for consturction or armaments. generally Adamantine is used to support large structures as the substance is unlikely to break or melt, though on occasion weapons are forged from the substance, though rarely is an item fully made from Adamantine .

Cultural Significance and Usage

Orcs in particular are fond of Adamantine, as even fragments of the stuff can be used to great effect in their tribal weapons.

Industrial Use

Adamantine must be forged at incredible temperatures to bring it to a melting point and bring it to form.

Refinement

On rare occasion Adamantine is bonded to Mithral to allow the two metals to compliment eachother, the Mithral lowering the weight of the Adamantine item, and the Adamantine granting it a near unbrekable edge. Adamantine is most commonly used as the edge of a blade during the forging process to reduce its weight.

Manufacturing & Products

Adamantine can technically take the place of most metals during the forging process, though its weight is nearly double that of Steel, making it less valuable in certain instances.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Adamantine tends to be highly coveted, as its rarely found. old Adamantine weapons and armor tend to be melted down to re-use for new Adamantine items.

Storage

Adamantine is most often transported in crates containing a number of Adamantine fragments from metorites or old Adamantine equipment and tools.
