Dryad
Starting Hit Points. When you choose this Ancestry, your hit point maximum increases by 8. Age. Dryad age slowly and typically reach adulthood at age 100. They can live as long as 2000 years. Size. Dryads vary wildly in size because they never stop growing, because of this you can always spot the young and old of this race. You can be between 4 and 9 feet tall and weigh between 150 and 1200 pounds on average. Creature Type. You are a Humanoid Paragon of Nature. You are connected to the forests on a spiritual level allowing you to speak with them. You can speak to beasts and plants of the forests using Dryad. One With Nature. If you can see a tree or other large foliage within 10ft of you, as an action you can magically phase into it, becoming invisible. You gain resistance to all damage and you cannot attack or cast a spell while phased. As a bonus action, you can exit the tree or foliage in an area you can see within 10ft. You cannot be seen or revealed through magical means while phased. Gift of the Forest Spirit. You gain proficiency in Arcana or Nature. Photosynthesis. You do not need to eat or sleep and magic cannot put you to sleep. You gain all the energy you need through light and drinking water. To gain the benefits of a long rest, you need to remain completely immobile for the duration, during this time you are still conscious and you can still see and hear. Adaptable Skin. Because of your bark-like skin you have a base AC of 16 (DEX modifier doesn't affect this number) but if you are wielding a shield, then you gain those bonuses as normal. In addition, you can mold your skin to fit your needs but if you change your skin, you cannot wear armor. Once per long rest, you can spend an hour changing your skin to gain the benefits of the one below or the one specific to your sub-race:
- You fortify your skin to give yourself temporary HP equal to twice your Constitution modifier. This can be regained through a short rest.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common, Dryad, and Druidic
Martial Dryad
Adaptable Skin.
- You thicken the skin on your hands and forearms, turning them into rough club-like appendages. In this way, your Unarmed Strikes will deal 1d6 Bludgeoning damage. When you have this skin, you can use a bonus action to make an Unarmed Strike immediately after you take the attack action if you have a free hand.
Shadow Dryad
Adaptable Skin.
- You flatten your leaves and make your skin smooth to give yourself a +3 bonus to stealth checks. You also gain 5ft to your base walking speed.
- With this skin, you can add your DEX modifier to your AC up to a maximum of +2.
Sentinel Dryad
Adaptable Skin.
- You thicken your skin to give yourself a +1 bonus to your natural AC plus bludgeoning resistance.
Arcane Dryad
Adaptable Skin.
- Forgo your natural AC in favor of Magical Resistance, which gives you advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
- With this skin, you can add your DEX modifier to your AC.
