Brulani

Brulani are a nomadic race of humanoids native to the mountainous regions of Iria. Despite their large size and intimidating presence, they are known as being a rather peaceful people, offering aid to those who find themselves stuck in their rugged home.
Description
Rivaled only by the Dol in size, The Brulani tend to tower of the other races. Their similarity with the Dol doesnt end with just their height. With similar physiques and skin tones from a distance the Brulani and Dol are often mixed up. Unlike the Dol, the Brulani's is not as stone like, though it can feel as tough as stone. Their skin is normally gray or brown. Their eyes were generally brown or Hazel. While many Brulani are bald those with hair are known for their unique styles and the unique colours they choose.
Personality
On average the Brulani are a kind and peaceful race, and while this was true they were also very competitive. They are a proud race, of their own achievements and the achievements of the race as a whole and will often tell everyone they can of events they see as important. This can make them seem arrogant or self-centered, but spend enough time with a Brulani and their stories will include 'heroic' acts that others have done as well. To the Brulani besting themselves was the most satisfactory victory, if they become competitive with you, you've made a very strong impact on that Brulani.

Brulani are prone to moments of unhappiness when their achievements do not beat themselves making them start to feel as if they can no longer perform as well as they could when they were younger. This is somewhat a cause for their short lives as they tend to push beyond any limits their body feel and end up dying in the process. Dying trying to best yourself or in battle is seen as a noble way to die to the Brulani.
Society
The small number of Brulani in Iria all live roughly in the same area, except for those adventuring, but have split into smaller tribes that litter the Thenaleo Mountains. These small tribes generally had no more than 30 Brulani within it, with the 'capital' and only permenant settlement, Zazak, reaching around 50 in number. These outlying tribes were often close families and mergers and splits happened often as new families were formed.

As the only permenat settlement for the Brulani, Zazak, was a safe space for all to come and share stories, seek aid, or where children were raised. Pregnant women would trip back to Zazak when nearing the end of the pregnancy where they would stay with their child until it's early years. From there the mother would return to her tribe and the Tent mothers would raise the young until they were old enough to begin helping the tribe. They then made the trek to find their family as something of a 'coming of age' pilgrimage. Some never find their family and instead settle in different tribes starting families of their own and even fewer find none, either adventuring or meeting a very early end in the harsh environment.

On very rare occasions all the tribes would come back together in Zazak, one of the most common reasons was the death of the chieften, (or the exile). All Brulani who can return to Zazak where there is a celebration of the chieften's life and achievements before a new chieften is chosen. The Chieften of Zazak is considered the Chieften to all Brulani, each tribe had their own Chieften who only answered to the Chieften in Zazak.
Justice

There are no written laws in Brulani culture, but there are unspoken rules that are commonly followed. Cheating and stealng are frowned upon but the greatest rule was obedience to the chieften and captains. Becuase of the way they live, fines or imprisonment were not really possible they implemented different forms of punishment. Those caught stealing, cheating or disobeying the chieften were often beaten. The Brulani believed that the pain is a motivator for the Brulani to do better. Beating was the most common form of punishment as it was rather quick and they could move on and continue living.

Shunning was another punishment given out. The whole tribe would pretend that the Brulani did not exist. They were not chosen for teams or sports, were given no jobs and no shelter or food. For more minor crimes the tribe could instead 'Half Shun' the offending Brulani basically treating them as a second class member of the tribe. This was more common in smaller tribes as they still needed all hands to work to keep the tribe safe. The length of a shunning was never verbally communicated with many Brulani stating they just knew how long the shunning should be.

Exile was the worst punishment to a Brulani. Before being exiled a chieften would mark the offending Brulani as exiled so they were unable to find another tribe to join. Exile was also the fate of the old, weak or badly injured who could no longer contribute to the tribe. Those who were exiled for that reason recieved a different marking and a celebration was held to celebrate their achievements before they were exiled. Criminals were not granted this same treatment. The marking's used either depicted the Brulani as a hero and well respected member of the tribes, or as the criminal they are. There are a few exceptions where unique marks were given.
