Alchemy

Alchemy is an ancient art which is furthered by the creativity... or insanity, of the alchemist in question. Through alchemy one could produce concoctions so powerful that they may be mistaken as a spirit contractor. All in all, professional alchemists are genius and dangerous existences, and every powerful individual in the world knows at least a couple they can rely on.

Alchemy Mechanics

The alchemy skill in Skill Library is Mind 1, investing into alchemy is important for being able to properly utilize rare and unique materials that have more esoteric methods to be used in conjunction with other materials.

Alchemy skill requisites in order:

3,7,12,18,30   Alternatively a player can use a skill called Herbalism instead of alchemy, which scales much faster than alchemy, but can only alchemize plants. However, it should be noted that herbalism is capped at 5 tiers, and thus locking the rank of materials and speed of alchemy/gathering.

Herbalism skill requisites in order:

1, 5   NOTE: the required stats are what is needed to combine the listed rarities of materials, they can be used by themselves in their base forms as long as one has at least a single investment into alchemy.

Alchemy Material Gathering:

Materials gathered in their Prime zone which is underlined and in (parenthesis) for each material, takes half of the required time. Note: materials that can not be traditionally gathered such as sand devil chiton, do not have a prime zone bonus due to being unable to be gathered, it is still shown to assist locating these materials. Furthermore, materials beyond rare do not have a prime zone. Finally, the prime zone bonus may only apply as long as the gatherer meets the skill requirements in alchemy tiers for the materials they desire to gather.   -Common materials require 40 minutes to gather.   -Uncommon materials require 4 hours to gather.   -Rare materials require 12 hours to gather.   -Mythical materials require 168 hours (aka 21 undisrupted days of gathering) to gather.   -Legendary materials require &!$¿∃∧ to gather.

Alchemy Time Consumption:

Each Common rarity material in a recipe will add 2 hours to the total time required to create the final product. At an Alchemy tier of 4, 8, and 12, the time added by common materials will be decreased by 20 minutes.   Each Uncommon rarity material in a recipe will add 6 hours to the total time required to create the final product. At an Alchemy tier of 8, 14, and 20, the time added by uncommon materials will be decreased by 1 hour.   Each Rare rarity material in a recipe will add 12 hours to the total time required to create the final product. At an Alchemy tier of 15 and 25 the time added by rare materials will be decreased by 3.5 hours.   Each Mythical rarity material in a recipe will add 32 hours to the total time required to create the final product. At an Alchemy tier of 26 and 40, the time added by mythical materials will be decreased by 9 hours.   Each Legendary rarity material in a recipe will add 7891 millennia to the total time required to create the final product. At an Alchemy tier of 50, the time added by legendary materials will be decreased by 0 seconds.

Common Concoctions:

Common concoctions are alchemized products that are often found in shops around the world, you can make any of these as long as you follow a set of conditions, the first, being you are in a lab or area fit for alchemy and filled with common alchemical materials (example is Drazon’s lab). The second, is each tier of alchemy is effectively equal to 50 dreons, for example: to create infection/burn ointment you require 4 tiers of alchemy. Lastly, you create common concoctions at a rate of 15 dreons per tier, meaning at the 4 tiers required to create infection/burn ointment it would take 4 hours to make either of them.   Note: specific remedy and cure all prices are upticked as they take substantially more time and effort so listed prices are not accurate.

Selling custom alchemical products:

  You can’t.

Alchemical Materials

Below is a list of alchemical materials, where they can be found, and how rare they are within the world.

Common Materials

found in practically every part of the world

White grass -

grass that has absorbed slivers of Irae energy in the air causing them to lose all pigment and to gain medical properties.   (Fields)

Puff balls -

bush plant that exudes a harmless gas upon contact, hard to collect if the gatherer is unaware of the proper procedure, common ingredient in poisons as it overwrites the form of a poison to a gas form.   (Forest)

Acid Ant -

Ant found within temperate climates everywhere, while these ants in of themselves are harmless their natural body fluids can be altered to easily create low tier acids.   (Forest)

Spirit's Delight -

A juicy mango like fruit, commonly eaten by villagers and city civilians alike, the juice of the this fruit can very minorly reduce one's Irae energy, when combined with a number of rare and potent materials, can become a poison/potion for depleting one of all their Irae energy becoming invisible for those able to sense it.   (Forest)

Tax Rocks -

These rocks are unusually pointed or sharp, the name of which comes from annoyed villagers who frequently use the phrase "there are only 3 certainties in life: death, taxes, and stepping on a tax rock at least once.", these rocks when broken down are a useful gunpowder substitute, even while they are not as powerful.   (Anywhere)

Solar Moss -

Catalyst used by up and coming alchemists with not much money to spend on materials, this moss is found mostly within swamps and forests and gather energy similar to most plants, however, when the moss reaches a boiling point of this energy, it self combusts which it does in order to spread itself over a wide area, the internal components of the moss which causes the combustion when optimal energy is achieved, is used as a catalyst.   (Swamp & Forest)

Eye of Desire -

Once an extremely sought after gem for it's gleam and naturally spherical shape, causing wars in the far distant past, these gems can now be artificially produced causing their worth to skyrocket down, they are still used by alchemists as this gem is one of few that can be a vessel to alchemical potions/poisons that are unable to be contained within simple flasks or powders.   (Mines)

Soup Sticks -

A mutation which appears on certain trees all throughout the forest's of the mainlands, it causes the sticks of trees to dissolve when placed in hot water. This results in a liquid similar to the broth of soup which most find inherently delicious. Alchemists were able to discover that this could be useful as a minor medication for ailments of the mind as it would put one in a state of relative relief. (Forests)

Sloth Oil -

A common plant found almost everywhere called the Tarda, this plant seems to be able to slow down the biological reactions within themselves using oils. This oil when used for alchemical recipes can delay or prolong effects, for poisons it can be used to have the poison activate after a number of days as to avoid suspicions, for medicines it can cause a short term medicine possibly to last an entire day, although the effects would be weakened.   (Fields)

Frost Wood -

A curiously unique tree species that is able to rapidly absorb heat from its surroundings, frequently used by the people of the fierce deserts to create homes and structures to relax away from the deadly heat. When crushed to the point of practically being shavings the wood may be able to be used for alchemical purposes, as smaller form has weakened its effects the uses of such are minimal, however, there are few alchemists who have been able to use this property to give their creation a trap like affect causing their creation to only go off once the Frost wood has absorbed a human amount of heat.   (Deserts)

Sapphire Fish -

A mutation that can appear in any type of fish throughout the world, this causes the fish to emit a soft blue light similar to that of bioluminescence from its scales. Some eccentric collectors would have these mutated fish gathered in massive amounts to create beautiful blue lights throughout the entirety of their mansions. However, these scales have a less known side effect, this is that their scales are Anion, meaning that they produce a small negative electric charge, hence when combined with a material with a positive electric charge the resulting combination can produce an electrical charge.   (Water Sources)

Farmer’s Despair -

A small insect which gained their name not due to eating crops but because of small but long lasting poison which is left anywhere they travel, and in large groups, can render entire farmlands unusable for at least 3-4 months.   (Anywhere but Tundra and Deserts)

Spoof -

In some areas near lakes and water sources near forests they may be inhabited by small creatures named spoofs, these creatures are small and fragile, and upon imminent harm they discharge a gas around themselves which upon contact with another creature disorients and confuses the creature for a short period just long enough for the spoof to escape. As the Spoof meanders around it will leak out a liquid, this liquid is what it body eventually converts into the disorientation gas, and when it produces excessive amounts it leaks out these liquids which alchemists then collect to recreate into the disorienting substance.   (In-Land Near Water Sources)

Breakthrough -

Although not an ingredient in of itself, can be easily created by combining easily accessible herbs, worms, and blood. After the concoction boils for a short while it creates what most have started to call “breakthrough”. It is most commonly used by overworked manual laborers, farmers, and secretaries, in which the concoction seemingly rids the user of mental and physical fatigue allowing them to work at peak performance for upwards of 48 hours. In current day this has been effectively outlawed in every self respecting nation and city as with repeated use causes irreparable harm to one’s mind.   (Anywhere)

Uncommon Materials

Found within certain areas of the world

Black Snowflake -

As Iraeidin stays within an area for a prolonged period of time the area around them begins to die and wither, everything from grass to corroding stone dies given enough time, one exception to this however, are leaves known as Black Snowflakes. Occasionally certain random leaves will undergo a mutation this mutation normally causes them to die much faster than the average leaf, but under the circumstance that a Iraeidin is in the area the leaf will instead become revitalized changing hue and shape similar to that of its name. Simply put the purpose of the Black Snowflake is to increase the power of harmful yet non-lethal alchemical creations.   (Irae afflicted area)

Blood Mist -

Said to be the anger of the spirit’s who claim the swamps as their dominion when blood is frequently shed in certain patches of a swamp the area will slowly become filled with a crimson red mist, this mist is oddly enough, completely harmless to most animals. This can be seen as the spirit directing its anger towards those who spill unnecessary blood as to humanoid creatures it is extremely poisonous. However it has been noted by more… immoral, alchemists, that when captured for “use” it becomes heavily diluted when removed from its originating region, requiring catalysts and enhancing materials to bring it back to a portion of its full power.   (Swamps)

Jelly Glass -

In the extreme heat of the fierce deserts on occasion some sand will be transformed into glass, however near the rare oases and the Galean River, the glass will still be transparent and receive jelly like properties. This material can be used to absorb the properties of other materials giving them a usually spherical jelly form, many alchemists have noted they are useful for corridors where they can assault their enemies with a variety of bouncing poisonous bombs and the like.   (Deserts)

Hype Fruit -

Only found within forests mainly filled with carnivores, else this fruit is rapidly consumed to the point where collecting them is nigh impossible. These fruits when consumed give the sense of being filled with energy and in some villages are used by those who frequently spend most of the day on manual labor. The reason behind this is because these fruits contain a positive electrical charge making them a Cation, hence when combined with a negative electrical charge, the result can produce an electrical charge.   (Forest)

Z-Nut -

This mostly hollow nut creates a loud yet high pitched sound reaching several yards away, furthermore the sound from these nuts causes a reaction in most creatures which causes them to start feeling weary or tired, either of these two effects has been used is several popular recipes for alchemy. These effects can be used even when the nut is crushed and added to an alchemical concoction, although the effects will be notably weakened.   (Plains)

Demon Powder -

Only found in the coldest reaches of the mainlands, Demon Powder is created through the chemical reactions of the odd and practically unliving plants of these areas. The powder is extremely dangerous, when making contact with **ANY** biological lifeform, the powder releases large and dangerous explosions, additionally, also leaving behind a fire after the immediate explosion. Because of the nature of the demon powder it is rarely used by all but the desperate and mad, and use in alchemical recipes is forbidden by most groups.   (Tundra)

Irae Blood -

Usually when a Iraeidin dies it’s body will begin to rapidly decompose turning into a thick black smoke which spreads back to the environment, however, with the proper methodology it is possible to prevent the smoke from dissipating and instead to contain it. The most common use of this is amongst bandits, assassins, and other villainous organizations, as when combined with a stabilizer and weakener it can effectively be used as a combat drug to enhance one's physical capabilities. This sounds good until those who use it realize they are slowly destroying their minds, becoming indistinguishable from Iraeidin from a mentality perspective.   (Iraeidin)

Beast’s Lantern -

An unusually resilient tree species found within cold tundra-like areas due to the temperature and lack of oxygen required for the plant to survive. For most of time as history has recorded this tree was thought to be a nuisance, it was difficult to chop and impossible to burn. Once there was a report of multiple lights coming from a forest, unusual as it was, it was investigated by local residents who were shortly killed by an inhabiting Iraeidin who had managed to “burn” the tree with their raw Irae energy. In the aftermath an investigation by Irae Mages was conducted, finding that the ashes of this tree hardens tremendously after the heat wanes, becoming close to an ore or metal in of itself. Additionally, when Irae energy is planted within the ashes it lights dimly with an eerie black glow, it was later discovered that this energy emanating from these hardened ashes could be used as a power source, albeit extremely dangerous and only used by the insane and arrogant. Although the trees can now be “burned” by regular Irae Mages, it has been named “Beast’s Lantern” as a warning across Stisedo of a light which heralds an Irae's approach.   (Tundra)

Coastal Serpent -

Many a sailor will tell you with a face full of dread the horror of these serpents, seemingly imbued with the power to partially control the seas themselves they often appear in the coasts as if waiting for the next trade shipment to launch, and for their next meal to arrive. If a coastal serpent is killed, some more… questionable individuals, have found that consuming the serpent can for an extremely short duration, increase a contractors durability and magical prowess. However, after the effects wear off the user will feel sick to their stomach, unable to concentrate and becoming mentally exhausted.   (Coasts)

Wailing seed -

The initial form of a beautiful flower known as Silix, while having no useful purpose as a flower, the seed of a Silix has a hard and uniquely formed shell that when destroyed in a short instant (such as being thrown at a hard surface) it will produce a piercing wail so fierce that most who have experienced the sound have gone deaf.   (Plains)

Everburn Ember -

Throughout the ages it is theorized that volcanoes have erupted countless times, and rarely volcanoes will spew forth primordial heat in the form of small red gems, these gems are so ridiculously dangerous and hot that upon landing everything within a 5 meter radius is vaporized, and everything within a 20 meter radius is guaranteed to melt and be destroyed. However, the primordial heat from these gems is so powerful that they will eventually destroy themselves just by existing. To this point we come to the exceptions, as if one of these gems were to land within a large lake or the ocean, it will continue to generate its heat while not destroying itself due to the water dampening the heat, thus, the gems burn forever in these bodies of water, hence the eventual name they were given of the Everburn Ember. Should an alchemist come across an Everburn Ember, they should proceed with extreme caution as successfully utilizing this material is harder than even some rare alchemical materials. First of all, an alchemist should NEVER touch the Everburn Ember with their own hands, as you will suffer an injury warranting immediate amputation, second, the ember must be combined with other materials and synthesized into a concoction whilst the ember is still underwater, else it would destroy everything once taken outside the water. If both steps are followed correctly, the alchemist will be able to have alchemical creations with enough raw heat and power that they could be mistaken for a fire spirit contractor.   (oceans & large lakes)

Rare Materials

The number of places these can be found can be counted on a single hand

Sky Lilies -

Flowers sitting upon the peaks of the world, within the mainlands there is only a single location in which sky lilies grow, luckily this area is neutral territory as such anyone is free to come and collect if they are able to make the peril filled journey up the extremely tall mountain. Sky Lilies are a stabilizer of which has no equal, they are able to stabilize products which would usually be volatile or unusable due to overtly powerful ingredients or too many different ingredient effects attempted to be combined with one another.   (Mountain Peaks)

Void Crystal -

A mysterious crystal that is impossible to locate where they may be found or mined within the world, these crystals are theorized to have originated outside the world as their direct effect is to be able to nullify all natural powers and effects on the world, no spirit, Irae, or otherwise is able to wield its power in the face of these crystals. Fortunately for spirit contractors, it is impossible to weaponize or utilize these crystals, they have a hardness that makes them impossible to mine even when supported by the best tools in the world, alongside how they are found in massive quantities they are impossible to transport as well, leading them to become a mystery within the world.   (Mines)

Coherence -

A coral-like substance which only exists in the depths of the ocean making acquiring extremely difficult for all except the toughest of divers. This coral can be crushed releasing a mist, this mist is able to clear the mind of all ailments, in terms of both magical mind altering effects and normal diseases which affect and deteriorate the mind.   (Ocean depths)

Crimson Ivory -

Iraeidin are known throughout the world as a threat and deadly encounter and for good reason, there are few monsters that can match them of what is somewhat known most would theorize this to be the Dragons and the Sand Devils of the fierce deserts. The dragons house a special anatomy within their bodies unique to any living creature, one such facet of this is the crimson ivory which makes up the teeth, claws, and occasional spikes of the dragons. Dragon species are separated similar to the spiritfolk between the five major elements, the crimson ivory of dragons absorbing minute amounts of their elemental powers throughout the course of the dragon’s lifespan. Because of this, if one were insane enough to attempt to slay a dragon, and skillful enough to come out on top, they would have access to a material with almost unparalleled elemental properties for alchemical concoctions.   (Dragons)

Sand Devil Chiton -

The sand devils of the fierce deserts are as rare as they are powerful, however, when one does appear a catastrophe is imminent for the warriors of the desert as they are forced to stop their petty squabbles to deal with a larger threat. Unlike the other great monster of the world, the dragons, the sand devils do not desire peace, instead similar to Iraeidin they only ever desire to consume and destroy. When a sand devil does inevitably appear most of its body that is intact is used traded between the people of the deserts kept away from those outside of the desert as they see them as unworthy of such a valuable material. Usually the chiton is used to create nigh impenetrable armor, however the weight of the material makes it so that only the strongest of warriors are able to wear such, although, when the chiton is broken down and crushed it can have a variety of effects however the most popular is a potion specializing in strengthening ones bones permanently.   (Sand Devils)

Tarantula Lotus -

a black and purple lotus covered in thousands of miniscule "hairs" from which it gained its moniker. Oddly enough these flowers seem to keep themselves in the exact center within the bodies of water than they can be found in, in particular they are most often found in lakes that cause nearby waterfalls, the reason for this is unknown. As for its use, alchemists have found that the Tarantula Lotus has a notable effect on increasing the maximum magical potential of magicians through an effect most describe as "calming the soul".   (Lakes with nearby Waterfalls)

Zyraneth’s Light -

A radiant and magical gem which often appears in complex geometric shapes with a mix of emerald and ruby like coloration. Zyraneth’s Light is a gem which was first discovered in the nation which once resided in the Iraese Wastes, the people of that time used the overwhelming number found in their land for weaponry, as its sharpness and durability was, and still is, practically unparalleled to most metals and materials. These arms and armors are what lead to the now nation of the past becoming the effective superpower of the world, only to fall to their hubris to the cataclysm of Irae. This gem has an odd and unique property of absorbing Irae energy, however, the rate of absorption is slow enough that it has no practical use in combat with this property.   (Iraese Wastes)

Mythical Materials

Most alchemists never get the chance to use these during their entire lives

Chaos -

Formed near the most dangerous centers of volcanoes, Chaos is a stone that harbors enigmatic properties, one day it could elevate an alchemical explosive to an ungodly level of power, another it could make a potion with the intention of healing instead kill the recipient instead. Despite this many alchemists who lust for unbridled power go on futile expeditions into the hearts of volcanoes seeking Chaos, usually ending with their lives and those with them being lost.

The Branch -

The treasure of the water Spiritfolk, said to be worshiped more than any singular spirit by the water spiritfolk. Merely arriving at this sacred site is a monumental task in its own right, as the people of the water spiritfolk only allow their most trusted and respected members access, if one were to attempt to reach this treasure without the permission of the elders of the water spiritfolk the entirety of the clan would become their enemy, and every water creature guarding the tree would also not hesitate to attack such intruders. Even if one were able to reach the tree, due to it existing for millennia according to the water spiritfolk it has incredible resilience, as such, no simple tool is able to separate a branch however small from the tree. If after everything, one is able to create a miracle and receive or “acquire” a branch, the branch has natural magical properties and including it in as part of a material may heal massive injuries, repairing organs and even regenerating limbs, if one were to use the entire branch, myths say you can even bring back someone to life if they only died only within a week.

Legendary Material

Paradox -

An infinitely undecipherable material, every alchemist who has managed to get their hands on it has been driven to madness, dying shortly afterwards. When their body is discovered Paradox is nowhere to be found, the only remnants being the journal entries of an insane alchemist. The only consistent point of interest between such entries have been repeated mentioning's of “paradox” in reference to the material, which had led to its namesake, some alchemists even speculate Paradox is merely a ruse utilized for assassins to kill high ranking alchemists.
