Black Bats
Overview
Once a humble initiative born in the slums of Fan'dori, The Black Bats swiftly burgeoned into one of the North's most formidable organizations, striking fear into the hearts of all who dared cross their path. Founded in the year 6820 by the ambitious dragonborn Gurvian, the Bats began as a modest assembly aimed at safeguarding the rights of laborers against exploitation by their superiors.History
Thirty years after its inception, The Black Bats faced a pivotal moment in its history with the invention of a revolutionary contraption by the human doctor Armim Feldar: a firearm powered by gunpowder. The blueprints for these weapons fell into the wrong hands, circulating through the dark underbelly of the black market. Among those who acquired them was Gurvian, a visionary who saw in these weapons a means of self-defense against oppressive overlords.Arming each member of the organization with these newfound tools, The Black Bats expanded rapidly, attracting diverse recruits with varying visions for its future. Among them was Leaonard Strauss, a half-orc whose ambitions for change resonated deeply within the ranks. Rising swiftly through the hierarchy, Strauss earned the trust and admiration of Gurvian, who regarded him as a surrogate son.
Tragedy struck in the year 6960, when Gurvian met his untimely demise at the hands of Strauss during a fateful voyage from the Ruby Isles. With cunning and ambition, Strauss seized control upon his return to Fan'dori, steering The Black Bats down a darker path. What was once an organization with noble intentions morphed into a clandestine mafia, exerting its influence over the city's streets with ruthless efficiency.
Under Strauss's leadership, The Black Bats ruled Fan'dori with an iron grip, their reach extending far beyond the shadows as they orchestrated the city's affairs from behind closed doors. For many years, Strauss held sway as the undisputed leader, his legacy indelibly etched upon the annals of history.
The Siege
As the Crimson Union descended upon Fan'dori, The Black Bats found themselves ensnared in the chaos of war. Despite valiant attempts to resist, their efforts proved futile against the relentless onslaught of the fire soldiers. The majority of the organization's members were rounded up and met a grim fate, consumed by flames as their once-proud stronghold crumbled around them.Among the fallen was Leaonard Strauss, brought before the enemy's general and swiftly executed, his life extinguished in the blink of an eye. In the aftermath of The Siege of Fan'dori, only a handful of surviving members remained, their ranks decimated and their once-mighty organization reduced to mere whispers of its former glory.
Despite their best efforts to rebuild, The Black Bats struggled to regain their former prominence, their influence over the city waning with each passing day. Without the strength of numbers that once bolstered their ranks, they found themselves powerless to reclaim their former dominance, relegated to the shadows as mere remnants of a bygone era.
