The Deep Mother

Dwarves believe that they originate from the heart of the world, born from the Deep Mother sculpting them out of rock and clay, and breathing life into them. They believe she crafted them in such a way as to allow them to flourish underground, protected and safe from the troubles and issues of the surface world. It is said that she used most of her power and strength to create them, and has since retreated to the core, regaining her strength. Dwarves mine deeper and deeper, not just because it is in their nature or to acquire wealth, but in the dream of one day reaching the depths of where the Earth Mother is.
