Dunthil
Priest Dunthil
Dunthil is a travelling Priest of Chandra, the Goddess of Life. An elderly gnome, he travels around with his companion and steed Sir Gerald the Swift. He has since settled at Embergate, and supports the Emberguard. He aims to found a lasting chapel in this hostile place, miles away from the Church of the mainland.

Personal history
Dunthil is an elderly gnome slowly approaching his half-millennium birthday, which is not uncommon for gnomes. He has had a long life by any accounts, and in his youth was a travelling minstrel who travelled around on his pet tortoise, Sir Gerald the Swift. He found his calling however, in his second century, when performing in the court of Pagaste. Travelling outside of the court after a long day of feasting and merriment, he looked at the condition of the smallfolk, and how the priests looked after them in times of hardship and drought. Dunthil became so disgusted at his left he sold his worldly possessions and donated them to the temple.
Never one to settle down, Dunthil continued travelling, but now as a Priest, which he did for the next two centuries; he became known as the "travelling Archon". While there were those in the Church who tried to convince him to rise the ranks, Dunthil refused, and instead chose to continue as a mere Priest, migrating from village to village, singing and healing as he went.
About five years ago, Dunthil travelled to the Frozen Isles to spread the word and touch a region few Priests had ever dared to travel to. Eventually, he reached Embergate and was so touched by their eternal battle and protection of the Frozen Isles that he has remained here far longer than he has anywhere in centuries. Dunthil has made a minor impact in converting some to the Communion of the Nine, and has a modest temple just outside the walls, in "Winter-town".
Morality & Philosophy
Dunthil is relatively unorthodox compared to most of the clergy. Dunthil never settled in a location, and instead chose to travel and make a small difference in many different communities. He also believes Priests should have very few- if any- worldly possessions, and spends whatever money he earns on others. Dunthil tries to copy his Goddess of choice- Chandra, who travelled around curing and healing when she was a mortal.
He is a devout follower of Chandra, and spent his centuries reading into her life and teachings. He is most unorthodox of his teaching of the Tenet of Family. Most priests espouse this as blood family- your children, siblings and parents. Dunthil extends this tenet however, defining family as much larger.
Dunthil teaches about the concept of community and found families. That instead that your organisation or close friends, even your local village, can be family, depending on individual circumstances. This teaching is quite unorthodox within the church, but has been reason why he has seen great success where he has travelled, particularly in unique places such as Embergate.
