Chandra, the Goddess of Life

None of the Ascended Nine are as greatly venerated as Chandra. Prayed to in times of war and peace, famine and good harvest, the Goddess of Life is the recipient of never-ending prayers of either praise or pleads. Her Temple focuses significantly on supporting the impoverished and suffering, receiving donations from nobles and kings to sate their conscience.    In her mortal life Chandra was a healer of unrivalled power, travelling the land to prevent blights and heal those suffering disgusting diseases and wounds. She was raised to Godhood at the end of the 8th era, upon curing a mysterious plague ravaging the Noble Dominion of Eriarel. In particular, she prevented the collapse of the Elvish political elite by saving the life of the young heir to the kingdom, who had undergone the darkest and most dangerous Elvish magics to no effect.

Tenets of Faith

Tenet Family; Family is the base community of the faith, and supporting and rewarding your family is key in preventing the erosion of the faith from generation to generation   There are several interpretations of this tenet. Traditionalists view this as direct family, and that the family unit is imperative to the survival of the Communion of the Nine, and should be the focus of the lay person. Those less orthodox transcend this to a more flexible interpretation, instead claiming that family is personal, and can include friends, local communities, or organisations ones partake in.    Sacrilige The Goddess of Life- Abandonment; Abandoning family, friends or those that rely on you is a betrayal of the Gods themselves

Accomplishments & Achievements

Chandra spent most of her mortal life travelling- healing and curing as she journeyed across the lands. Her most noted achievement was ending the Bloat Rot Plague of the Noble Dominion of Eriarel. It is said that she read ancient tomes and scrolls day and night to discover how to cure the plague, and retrieved several lost relics to create the eventual cure, distilled from the blood and sweat of Saints and Angels. Her care for the land of the elves marked her as separate from much of the Church.    Chandra was also a worthy diplomat, and summoned rival nobles to end years of squabbling in the Lowlands of Allon, preventing what many expected to be a bloody race war between the men and elves of the region.
