Duration: Instantaneous You attempt to interrupt a creature in the process of casting a spell. You and the target magically clash, rolling opposed ranged spell attacks or melee spell attacks when cast within 5 feet of the target. The creature casting a higher level spell gains a bonus to their spell attack equal to the difference in spell slot level (i.e., a 4th level counterspell targeting a 6th level spell grants the targetted creature a +2 bonus to their spell attack roll). If the opposed roll results in a tie or the target succeeds, nothing happens. If you succeed, the target’s spell fails and has no effect.
