The Land of Vatrarn
The Land of Fire
Vatrarn is an inhospitable wasteland, with sharp cliffs surrounding the island except for around Cape Vatra. The land is ruled by a colossal red dragon, Orasi. Orasi was the first dragon created by Tiamat, and as such, is the most powerful known chromatic dragon. Orasi cares little for the affairs of the outside world, content with expanding his ever-growing horde. As long as Orasi is given his contributions, the inhabitants of Vatrarn are spared his wrath. The capital of Vatrarn, Vatrosa, is home to a council that serves Orasi. This council makes sure to collect enough from the various mines on the island and deals with foreign relationships. Orasi never leaves his horde (the location of which is only known to council members) unless there are no contributions in a month's time. Orasi, being so old, is wise enough to know that to expand his influence would be to meet the wrath of numerous outsiders, and seeing what happened to his mother, Tiamat, and the other gods, Orasi doesn't wish to test his luck. The People of Vatrarn
Vatrarn is an incredibly hostile area; however, Vatrarn boasts two main attractions that keep people from leaving. One is the immense gold deposits found in the Vatrarian mines, and the second is the only known permanent portal to the fire realm. The Gate of Fire is protected by the circle of wildfire, a druidic order who has stood guard over the gate since before even that of Orasi's rule; and the only militarised sect of Thuvnos's church. Orasi does not seek to anger the gods by messing with the innate power that flows through the gate, knowing what they can do, and as such, stays away from the gate unless his presence is truly necessary. The exports from Vatrarn are mineral goods that are not given to Orasi; around 10% of the minerals mined (mostly consisting of gold).
