Session 5

General Summary

Waking from their night’s rest in Amity’s Citadel tavern, the party set about stocking up on supplies ahead of departing the town. They made stops in Norsandoral’s Arms and Newton & Sons General Goods. As they were making their way to the train station, the party witnessed the local gendarmes raiding a butcher’s shop, taking the butcher away in one of their motorised horseless carriages.   After purchasing their tickets, the party boarded a train destined for Beacon. During the first leg of the journey, they were approached by a man in colourful clothing, who informed them about a travelling circus troupe currently visiting Bounty, which lies on their route. Malice took some time to write a letter home to her mother. The party spent time in the train’s drinks car, enjoying some VBs.   After the train’s dinner service, it arrived into Youthsend, where a ghastly sight greeted them. With the train having to stop so the crew could clear debris from the tracks, the party disembarked and headed into the village. They found several humanoid statues, which they later realised were petrified people, as well as corpses, and piles of dust and ash amongst the ruined buildings of the village. The only building left untouched was Bertram’s Goods, which they found out is magically protected. The shopkeeper in Bertram’s Goods, Bonam, told them that the village had been attacked by a beholder, and that he had given some of the citizens refuge in the cellar beneath his store.   Heading to the temple, where the beholder was located, Joey scaled the outside of the building, sniping it from the roof with his crossbow. The party fought and managed to defeat the already badly wounded beholder, then informed the villagers of such, and gave them 200 gold to help rebuild. After this, the party headed back to the train.
