Session 4

General Summary

Having woken in Wrensbury Manor, the party gathered to discuss something Joey had found with the world map they possessed. He had noticed several unnamed locations on the map, but nobody was able to identify them. The party was then summoned before the Eagle King, who informed them that he had secured their passage aboard a Cradian merchant vessel, The Good Fortune, and ensured that they had all of the relevant documentation to get them into Amity. Before departing Wrensbury Manor, the head chef, Susanna Hoo, gave each of them a Pigidelphian delicacy, the cheesesteak.   Heading down to The Good Fortune, the party met the ship’s captain, Nimnel Bronzetongue, and set off. Joey attempted to climb up into the crow’s nest, but was met by a place lover who told him that he couldn’t be up there according to international maritime law. During their voyage, the ship’s crew spotted an object floating in the water and hauled it aboard, discovering it to be a locked chest. Joey cracked it open, finding gold inside, as well as a magical cleansing stone and a magic glass eye. They also spotted a corpse floating in the sea, and Grimnir dove in to retrieve it. They found a Bag of Holding on the body which contained some documents pertaining to Coeden Gyntaf and the Alabaster Armoury. Joey then threw the corpse back overboard.   On the third day of travel, it began raining. At some point during the journey, the party spotted a metal tube off in the distance, poking out of the water. As the ship grew closer, the tube descended beneath the waves, and Gerard, Trident of the Depths in hand, dove into the water to see if he could get a better look. Due to the darkness of the sea, he wasn’t able to make out much, just a rough shape.   The ship’s passage was delayed by three days having encountered storms, with the ship being struck by lightning at one point. On their final day of travel, the ship sailed into some unnatural fog, where spectres appeared on the deck and attacked the party. The party dealt with the spectres, with Gruvnak killing one of them, Gerard another, and Joey killing the final spectre.   Having survived the ghost fog, the ship arrived into the port of Amity. The party proceeded through the port authority, with the gate agent checking their papers changing after the first three party members, right before Joey went through. Proceeding into town, Vinny was approached by a blind old man, who addressed him by name while asking him for a coin. The party proceeded to question this man, who was seemingly omniscient.   After speaking to the blind man, the party went to the Church of Gond, where Phenex’s Mission from Gond was finally revealed. He was sent to retrieve some Wings of Mechanus, which are buried somewhere beneath vast quantities of sand. The party also asked the head of the church about the metal object they spotted during their voyage, learning about submersibles.   The party then headed to the Wonky Horse, with Malice falling through a manhole that had been minor illusioned on the road, into the sewers below. Climbing back out, she cleaned herself off using the cleansing stone. Arriving at the Wonky Horse Inn, Joey spoke to a “friend” who was guarding one of the doors, then headed inside and spoke to Félicité Basson, head of the Scarlet Haze. She was able to give the party some information about the Mayor, and a man on the inside that they had in the police department.   The party, leaving the Wonky Horse, headed towards The Citadel Tavern. On their way to the tavern, they noticed a public execution taking place in Basselle Square, with the criminal due to be hanged getting rescued by some other individuals who shot the noose as the platform dropped from under him. Joey spotted the goliath who had shot the noose for a brief moment, and elected not to pursue it any further.   Arriving in The Citadel, the party rented rooms for the night, and spoke to Déagol Deep-Pocket, one-time travelling companion of Alfonso Tonto and the Birds of a Feather, who told them the story of the time they were attacked by a dragon while they were sailing.   Heading upstairs to bed, the party found themselves waking in a completely different location, in military cots inside a stone room. They were greeted by General Nicolle Pasquier, who apologised for having kidnapped them to bring them to the fort. He asked the party to investigate the Mayor on his behalf, promising money and potential future work if they were successful.   The party got some items from the fort’s armoury, and then headed to Norsandoral’s Arms. On their way there, they were stopped by a group of street urchins who challenged them to an arm wrestle. Grimnir accepted, just barely beating his child opponent in the contest. As they were leaving, Vinny noticed the child drinking from a bottle of yellow liquid, with a thumb floating in it. Upon asking the child what he was drinking, the child responded that he was drinking piss. Upon arriving at Norsandoral’s Arms, Joey bought a bolt-action rifle, and learned about the experimental suppressor technology that was available for 1000 gold. They then headed to The Hemming Way, where Malice bought a big hat, and Grimnir bought a second yellow raincoat.   Phenex designed some adhesive tape while the party sat in The Citadel drinking lemon cortados, then the party went to the Mayor’s house, getting a tour from the butler, Neil Dupont. While on the tour, Joey took the time to meticulously place tape on the locks within the manor, ensuring that the doors would be easily openable when they returned in the night.   Killing some more time dining in The Citadel, the party headed back to the mayoral residence at nightfall. Joey scaled the outside to the balcony at the front, bringing two of Vinny’s familiars with him. Vinny sent one of the familiars in through the chimney, scoping out the inside. Joey picked the lock of the balcony door, heading in and opening the front door for the rest of the party. With the rest of the party entering, Joey went into the dining room to retrieve a crossbow he had seen there earlier, and they then made a beeline to the Mayor’s office, not finding him inside. They went to his bedroom, where he also wasn’t, then heard him moving downstairs into the lobby. He called out to the party, goading them into coming down to face him. Vinny sent one of his familiars to investigate the lobby first, seeing the Mayor and his wife standing in the foyer. Upon noticing the familiar, the Mayor pulled out his gun, which fired a bolt of lightning that eviscerated the familiar.   The party engaged the Mayor and his wife, who was kitted out in a set of power armour. Malice was downed by one of the Mayor’s wife’s attacks, but was picked back up by Phenex’s healing. Grimnir killed the Mayor’s wife, ripping her arm from its socket with his glaive. Malice then killed the Mayor, sending scorching rays straight into his ass.   The party investigated the manor after dealing with the mayor, finding a more detailed outline of the plot and the members’ specific involvements, with Joey making sure to make it look like an amateur burglary gone wrong. They then headed back to the fort and reported their findings to the General, who gave the party money, and a job with Cradian Intelligence. The party left the fort and headed back to The Citadel, to get a good night’s rest…
