Session 3

General Summary

The party awoke from their night’s rest in the Briny Tide, and set about discussing their plans for what to do once they reached Pigidelphia, and Grimnir trying to explain how he did not, in fact, love killing, but does love fighting. After their discussion, they headed down to the docks to check out the Baron’s ship, where they found him waiting to bring them on their way. They boarded the ship, with Joey taking up position in the crow’s nest, and set off on their voyage.   On their third day of travelling, the ship was stopped by a Cradian naval patrol vessel. The patrol vessel’s officer spoke to the Baron for a few minutes, enquiring about any Kodazar activity spotted in the area. As he was beginning to disembark, Gerard asked him about Major Dan Campbell, but the officer didn’t know much about him.   The following day the ship arrived in Pigidelphia, and the party set about looking for clues as to Jathebed's whereabouts. They started on the docks, with Joey asking a “friend” of his if he had seen anyone matching the description that the party had. Malice then asked one of the guards where the immigration office was located, and the party headed there to see if they could find any information on Jathebed. They got pointed in the direction of Wrensbury Manor, where he had secured a job in the kitchen.   The party headed to Wrensbury Manor and got some more information from the King’s advisor, as well as from the head chef, Susanna Hoo. They learned that Jathebed no longer worked there, and that he lived somewhere in the Old City district of Pigidelphia.   Heading to the Old City, Joey once again found some “friends” to ask about Jathebed, who told him that he lived in an old tower within the district. The party headed there, where Joey scaled the building in an attempt to find some other ingress point, but without any windows on the side, he was unable to find any way in.   Heading in through the front door, the party were met with a large chamber, in which was a rear wall with a door on the left-hand-side, and two stone plinths in the centre of the room; one with seven differently coloured gemstones embedded in it, the other with seven candlesticks holding seven differently coloured candles. Solving the puzzle caused the plinths to explode.   Opening the door in the room (which was never locked to begin with), the party headed upstairs to a sitting room, where there was a suit of animated armour and a rug of smothering lying in ambush. Malice accidentally woke the armour, and combat ensued. Grimnir got wrapped up in the rug at one point, but managed to break free rather quickly. Gerard managed to dispatch the armour, and Malice incinerated the rug.   Going upstairs once again, Joey saw the party’s quarry lying atop a bed, asleep. Attempting to tie up the figure, Joey’s hands passed right through them, hitting the mattress instead. Calling the rest of the party up to the room, they were then ambushed by Jathebed, who appeared from underneath the bed, slashing Joey with his claws. The party fought him, with Malice getting the kill, popping a firebolt down his throat.   Reaching the final floor of the tower, the party found some teleportation runes on the ground, a desk covered in papers written in a language none of the party recognised, and the king’s advisor chained to the wall. Through talking to the advisor, it was deduced that Jathebed had been impersonating him, in order to gain access to the King.   The party brought the rescued advisor back to Wrensbury Manor, and informed the King of the plot against him. The King, expressing his gratitude, allowed the party to stay in Wrensbury, in the guest bedrooms, and also awarded them a sum of money and a magic ring. The party enquired about the King potentially securing them transport to the town of Amity, and after some back and forth, the King eventually agreed to sponsor their journey, but informed them that it would take a couple of days to get everything ready.   With downtime on their hands, the party spent the night in the lavish guest bedrooms of Wrensbury Manor, with Joey tying his bedsheets to the bedposts and sleeping in a suspended hammock. The next day, the party headed to the local chapter of the Birds of a Feather Adventurers’ Guild, where they found that there was a bounty posted for Jathebed. They turned in the bounty, and gained membership to the guild.   Following their trip to the adventuring guild, the party headed down to Limpkin Field to watch a Rockgoal game between the Pigidelphia Seagulls and Beacon Blaze, from the comfort of the King’s Box. The Seagulls managed to secure a 4 - 2 victory, and after the game Gerard got the chance to speak to the Seagulls’ head coach, obtaining an old playbook from him and getting to throw the game ball around with Joey on the field. After the game, the party stopped into the Avocet Cigar Bar for some refreshments on their way back to Wrensbury Manor, where they stayed another night…
