Ghoran (Gh-or-an)

Basic Information

Anatomy

Humanoids with skin comprised of fibrous vines and rinds, almost like leaves or sometimes moss in texture, the Ghoran are a truly strange people. Their faces consist of layers of petals that can flush and flutter at a whim, enabling them to mimic the facial behaviors of other species. Unlike other species, Ghoran have almost complete conscious control over the appearance of their physical form, though they are restricted to a roughly humanoid shape. Sometimes they adopt masculine or feminine features, though these are mostly done when in the presence of other species, as gender is an entirely elusive concept to the Ghoran.

Genetics and Reproduction

Ghoran posses a unique ability for reincarnation, as their bodies house a fist-size seed in a cavity within their torso. When planted in the ground this seed will grow into a new Ghoran with the same memories of the last after only one to two months. Most Ghoran only live 20 years, and have to plant their own seed in order to 'reproduce', though their numbers do seem to fluctuate, leading to a prevailing theory that they do reproduce, just not consciously, as pollen and seeds are carried on the wind.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Ghoran possess a pair of eyes and are perfectly capable of perceiving audible sound, much like a human. Sometimes how they do this is not understood by other species as no visible ears can be seen.

Civilization and Culture

History

Due to their neigh immortality, the Ghoran have been around the world throughout all of its hardships, from the first wars on Il'Arthel to the dry Long Summer, the Ghoran have seen it all. Yet despite this, they do not maintain their own nations or even large communities, as they seem to rather prefer to join other communities that are already established. At least, as of late, as in the distant past the Ghoran did live in their own communities, where they created the first Wyrwood. These automata would be given their independence in time, after the Ghoran realized that their creations were sapient.
Ghoran are often considered kindly elders by other species, due to their long memories, though they find it difficult to maintain friendships across their various lives due to small changes in their behavior. Due to this, the few Ghoran leaders throughout history often disdain diplomacy as a waste of their precious little time.
