Dhampir

Basic Information

Anatomy

Humanoids with grey skin, red eyes, prominent canine teeth and features resembling their non-vampiric parent. Dhampir tend to be considered quite beautiful, almost unnaturally so, leading to their appearance being somewhat unnerving.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dhampir cannot reproduce with other Dhampir to create more Dhampir, though they can reproduce with most other races. To create a Dhampir a Vampire must impregnate a female of any race and ensure that they give birth. This gestation period is not abnormally long or anything, though this pregnancy can sometimes provide a risk to the mother due to the partial undead nature of the fetus.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dhampir mature at the same rate as their non-vampiric parent race.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Due to their vampiric origins, Dhampir posses supernaturally altered eyesight that grants them superior vision, as well as lets them see perfectly in the dark, though this also makes them vulnerable to light.

Civilization and Culture

History

Dhampir have existed as long as Vampires have, as the lords of the night have always sought ways to circumvent their weaknesses. While Dhampir can go out into the day and gain a number of powers due to their heritage, they are not true vampires and were generally considered a failure. Over the millennia, however, it came to the attention of various mages that Dhampir are blessed with an incredibly long lifespan, with some living over a millennia in the right conditions. This led to a brief period in which mages attempted to become Dhampir themselves or only train Dhampir, as that would give them an incredibly long time to study magic. With the arrival of the Long Summer, this favoritism died out as people became increasingly desperate, though the Dhampir were in significant numbers now to be a somewhat rare sight in settlements.

As the Long Summer came to an end and the magical world was throw into upheaval with the foundation of the Mages Charter, Dhampir once again found themselves heavily involved in magic, though this time as a policing force against magic, rather than practitioners themselves. Created by and for the Charter, this Wytchguard was designed to keep an eye on the Mages and hunt down those betrayed their oaths.
