Marikath

Marikath, the largest city-state of the Gemstone Colonies, was built atop the ruins of an older city, its name lost to time. Said ruins served as a trading post where folks across the lands that would later be called the Gemstones would gather to trade, gossip, fight, negotiate, and more. Businesses popped up to cater to these travellers, and the city grew from there. When the Scyanox Empire began to take notice of the growing Gemstone Colonies and demand tribute, they noted Marikath for its size and central location, building the largest Scyanox outpost in the Colonies just outside the city.
When resistence to the Empire and its demands grew more fervant and whispers of resistance began to flame the spark of rebellion, the Empire moved the troops from the outpost into the city proper, implementing martial law and a temporary blockade. From the now-occupied city, Governor Gratham oversees Scyanox's mission to quell the resistance. Several months into this endeavor, Imperial Prince Daken arrived from the Scyanox homeland to lend his personal touch to the mission.
