Aetheria
Aethelhaven was founded centuries ago, starting as a port town and halfway point between the East and West. Eventually the cliffs on the north half of the island were found to have a rich supply of a special type of silver that had magical properties that lent itself to being enchanted. The trade for this silver became the economic basis of the rise of Aethelhaven as a military power, and its distance from most of the rest of the world led it to focus most of that power in its navy.
As Aethelhaven expanded itself across the island, it would eventually come into contact with a small tribe of fierce hunters on the far side of the island. See Graythorn for more on this
The Walharts rose to power approximately a century ago, taking over as king when the previous king died leaving no heir. The current Walhart's parents were killed rather horribly in front of him when he was a child, when a manticore that was brought to the palace by a travelling menagerie escaped killed them. This would be a defining memory for Walhart, who came to fear the idea of death above all else. Walhart fell into researching dark magic to extend his life, eventually recruiting a necromancer to teach him the secrets of lichdom. He was nearly successful in his quest before being stopped by the combined efforts of the Graythorn and Marhaven invasion, spearheaded by the Tresendar Four and the Plainclothes Pirates.
Aetheria was the capital of Aethelhaven, a large palace built on top of a cliff face. The palace was destroyed when Baron von Walhart's phylactery exploded.
