La'kila (La-kee-la)
For more information on all planes, see: Planes & The Multiverse
La’kila is M’kali’s private realm of searing intensity, where emotion manifests as untamed fire. Every flame burns with purpose, from the roaring infernos of ambition to the smoldering embers of sorrow and the radiant glow of love; the raw, unfiltered passions that drive existence paint the plane.
Physical Description
La’kila’s shifting landscape is a symphony of molten seas, crimson volcanic plumes, and storm-like whirlwinds of blue fire, all set against a ground of ever-changing glass and obsidian—the cooling remnants of abandoned passions. Mortals who enter feel their emotions magnified to unbearable levels, risking immolation if they lack protection or resolve.
The Proving Grounds
The Proving Grounds, presided over by the deity M’kali herself, are a vast, ever-shifting crucible. Here, the Flame-Dancer tests and tempers the souls of challengers, forging and shaping greatness through trials of flame and resolve. The terrain consists of colossal arenas of obsidian and molten rock, connected by emberstone bridges that crackle beneath every step. Rivers of liquid fire flow around these shifting islands, while a blazing crimson-gold sky casts shadows that seemingly dance and writhe like living things. Obsidian totems of champions stand vigil, their forms seeming to observe those who dare to tread here.Every inch of the Proving Grounds is a trial designed to test the physical, mental, and emotional limits of those who enter. These challenges can take many forms, forcing would-be champions to lay their willpower bare for M’kali. She observes each trial personally, her voice echoing across the Grounds. To those who succeed, M’kali offers blessings of resilience and empowerment, but to those who fail, she extends neither scorn nor pity—only the chance to return and try again. The Proving Grounds serve as both a sanctum and a challenge. M’kali’s followers, upon death and delivery by Cocytus to her realm, must undertake this ultimate test of their devotion and strength. Warriors, leaders, and seekers from across the Multiverse also come to prove their worth. Even those who are not devout find themselves drawn to the Proving Grounds, hoping to be shaped into something greater by its trials.
Those who prove their worth are offered two paths by M’kali. The most exceptional souls may ascend to become eternal wardens of the Proving Grounds or champions of M’kali across the Multiverse. Retaining fragments of their mortal identity, these individuals are reshaped into pure embodiments of purpose and willpower, their forms marked by scars that grow faintly with an inner fire—living testaments to their perseverance. Alternatively, a soul may choose to meld with the Contending Fire, the ever-burning inferno at the heart of M’kali’s domain. This sacred blaze is composed of the fighting spirits of all who join it, a collective force of indomitable will. M’kali’s followers revere the Contending Fire, with some believing it to be the spiritual wellspring from which all mortal hearts draw strength and resolve, forever fueling their determination.

Inhabitants
Home to pyrosynths—sentient beings of fire embodying raw emotion—La’kila fuels ambition, creativity, and resolve across the Multiverse. Those who brave its expanse seek enlightenment or renewal, but the plane demands a steep price, for in La’kila’s blaze, one may reignite their soul—or be consumed by it.
Upon death, mortal followers of M’kali find their souls ferried to the Proving Grounds within La’kila, where their final journey begins. Here, they are not granted eternal rest, but a continuation of their trials in a form that matches their spirit. This is not a punishment but an honor. The flames of the Proving Grounds burn away their mortal frailties, leaving behind a form that reflects their truest self—some emerge as towering figures of fire with courage and strength aplenty, while others might appear as flickering flames of untapped potential.
