The Past Expanse
The Past Expanse, also known as the Harsh Yonder, is an arid region north of the nation of Strikkonia, separated by the Varenrych Mountains. Although it is claimed as a territory by the nation of Strikkonia, its harsh terrain and lack of natural resources make it of little use to the empire, so Strikkonia largely ignores it, leaving the handful of inhabitants of the Past Expanse to fend for themselves. As a result, the sparse settlements in the region are lawless hives of fugitives and miscreants.
