Diplomatic action
Almost two years after landslide victories in Seripha for the Reconciliaries, Seripha officially sends a delegation to Boralto and formally requests ascension into the LFR. This plunges Lavenna into intense debate, and meanwhile Kannosta warn that they view the Seriphanese government as illegitimate and that the elections had been rigged by Lavenna, and should ascension go through, it would be seen as an act of war.
After Kannosta withdrew from East Seripha in 481 AGL, the world breathed a sigh of relief. The last vestiges of the Continental War, it seemed, had finally dissolved. It had been a long decade since the treaty of Lutenia, and years of tribunals and occupation had instilled in the Seriphanese people a desire for not just peace, but to distance themselves from their horrific past and the atrocities of their former leaders. While extremist elements certainly remained, war weariness and a surge of optimism outpaced any resurgent Seriphanese ambitions. When Kannosta withdrew on the condition of free elections later in the year, they had most likely hoped that Seripha would be grateful for their guidance and align themselves with Kannosta. This was further strengthened by the fact that countless Kannostan officials still held authority in Seripha, even if Kannosta officially withdrew. However, when elections were finally held a few months later, Kannosta was taken by surprise. Against all expectations, the seemingly fringe Reconciliaries swept the elections in a landslide and gained a majority in both the Seriphanese Duma and National Council. For the next few months, the world watched anxiously at Seripha, fearing any sign of a descent back into extremism. But as the months went by, the new Seriphanese Republic took an unexpected turn. Instead of aligning itself with the looming Kannosta as was widely expected, they began seeking closer ties with Lavenna. Trade deals, free trade agreements. Lavenna was still largely bitter toward Seripha, even if it had a seemingly friendly new administration. Nobody had forgotten the atrocities they committed, and the decades of suffering they wrought upon Lavenna. So when a Seriphanese delegation arrived in Boralto late in the year of 481 AGL, Lavenna was plunged into an existential crisis, as much as they'd also been drawn into an international one. The world was once again brought to the brink of war when Kannosta gave a warning and ultimatum to Lavenna and Seripha. It became clear that Kannosta had ambitions for Seripha, and that the event of Seripha being admitted to the LFR would not just cripple their expansionistic ambitions, but also dramatically strengthen the growing Lavennic power.
"It is clear to any sensible person what happened in Seripha. Why else would they immediately try to swoon their domineering neighbour, begging them for unity? No sensible Seriphanese I've met would ever do such a thing. There was clearly foul play in those elections. This is nothing more than the Lavennic handing themselves their own medallion."Kal'sora Gal, Grand Archon of Kannosta to an international delegation
