Nuvo Vaaran

The southern cousins of the Vardish cultures, the Nuvo Vaarans have historically been antagonistic, belligerent raiders and a heavily individualist culture. Distantly related to the Vards, the Nuvo Vaarans have become a very distinct identity, and years of strong nationalist sentiment promoted by the Despotate of Vaara fiercely suppressed any association with their old brethren. While it is clear that Nuvo Vaar was settled by the Vards in around 15 AGL, ask any Nuvo Vaari and they'll insist that the Vards are an entirely different people.
This has led to the development of a heavily entrenched level of social conservatism on the island, and some of the most restrictive and almost authoritarian laws in Lavendina, even compared to Rodanya and Feldbar, are ruthlessly enforced there.
