Quicksilver

Quicksilver is a rare metal with special properties. It is not widely known today, but in the past it was very valuable.

In pure form, quicksilver is a shiny, silvery metal. It can be mined as a rocky ore, but that ore is hard to identify. Pure quicksilver is said to “run away,” whatever that means.

The ancient dwarven kingdoms, and the even more ancient elves, knew the secrets of how to find and use quicksilver. Details are scarce, but ancient sources write that quicksilver has strong magical properties and can be used to make powerful magical artifacts. The ancient elves, in particular, seem to have used quicksilver in their most powerful rituals.
