Background
After seeing her parent's farm taken by the Alliance, and her parents charged with treason and executed, because they took in wounded Browncoats during a battle, Valerie fled and ended up joining a crew of like-minded people that were tired of being on the wrong end of the government's long arms. After working for several years as a crew member, she eventually got promoted to an officer, and then was voted to be captain of the ship. She renamed it the "Pegasus" and took the name "Valkyrie" and began her ruthless war against everything that stood in her way.  She gave up caring about who she stole from, and who she killed, figuring that every ship she took was a blow against the Alliance.
Description
Her reputation for not taking any prisoners is well know, but she often goes incognito planet-side, and usually tries to keep a low profile when boarding a ship. Not until the ship is secured, and she has had a chance to talk to the crew does she reveal who she is, and what fate awaits them. She finds it much easier to gain access to the ship, and get her crew in place if they do it quietly and stealthy first. But once in place, she is only concerned about how much she can make off of the prize.  She is not against ransoming passengers who can pay well, and will often try to determine that before taking the ship, so there is no need for long crawn out negotiations later.
