Vice President of Mars

The Vice President of Mars is the third-highest officer in the executive branch of the Martian Republic after the president of Mars and the prime minister of Mars; but ranks first in the presidential line of succession. The vice president is also an officer in the legislative branch, assisting the prime minister as the president of the Senate. In this capacity, the vice president is empowered by the prime minister to preside over the Martian Senate, but may not vote except to cast a tie-breaking vote. Other duties are assigned at the discretion of the president of Mars.
