USC Artificial Intelligence Resources
The USC Artificial Intelligence Resources, commonly abbreviated as A.I.R., is a specialized department of the United Space Command responsible for the evaluation, classification, assignment, and administrative oversight of artificial intelligence personnel. The department reviews newly created AI constructs before their placement within military commands, starships, research facilities, logistical networks, intelligence centers, and other authorized USC operations. A.I.R. also maintains assignment records, reviews requests for transfer or reassignment, and determines whether individual constructs remain suitable for continued service.
Initial evaluations are conducted through the Occupational AI Personality Testing division, headed by Dr. Rachel Vix. The division examines an AI’s personality structure, cognitive stability, decision-making ability, behavioral tendencies, and compatibility with prospective duties and personnel. Its findings are used to recommend occupational placements based on the construct’s capabilities, temperament, and intended operational purpose. AI constructs displaying unusual behavioral development or inconsistent evaluation results may be subjected to additional testing before receiving clearance for active assignment.
A.I.R. falls under the jurisdiction of the Office of Space Intelligence’s Section Three Division, placing its activities alongside the USC’s advanced research and classified technological programs. Although the department primarily serves as an administrative, testing, and personnel authority, it possesses broad influence over the continued employment of USC artificial intelligences. In cases involving unstable, compromised, unauthorized, or otherwise unsuitable constructs, A.I.R. may recommend restricted access, reassignment, isolation, suspension, cognitive review, or permanent deactivation to Section Three and the appropriate command authority.
