Tigriic

The Tigriic, are a semi-primitive tribal species of humanoid bipedal felines of the planet Tíreia alongside the Caniic and Sauruanian. The Tigriic tend to prefer a solitary lifestyle in meditation, and have for much of their early years, believing that technology went against their religious beliefs. All this shifted slightly after meeting the Caniic. In more modern times, the Tigriic have become quite renowned in the field of politics and government affairs, as well as being incredibly influential. In fact, it was the Tigriic that mediated the formal alliance between the Caniic Hierarchy and United Space Command after first contact with humanity in 2725.

Biology

Anatomy & Physiology

Tigriic, are mammals, and share common features with other large felines. They are warm-blooded and give birth to live offspring, providing nourishment through milk. With their five fingers, including an opposable thumb, tigriic have developed an advantageous hand structure that facilitated early tool-making. In terms of circulatory system, tigriic have a closed network consisting of one heart and blood vessels. Their red blood is due to hemoglobin, which contains iron. tigriic possess two lungs that primarily function in a nitrogen-oxygen based atmosphere.   Tigriic have hair, or fur, covering their entire bodies, though they lack the same level of thickness compared to caniic or becceorian. Their visual capabilities are beyond excellent compared to other species, with them able to see during the night, and is almost six times better than humans, and at least twice as better than caniic. Their hearing is the most acute all its senses, with their ears capable of rotating to detect the origins of various sounds such as the high-frequency sounds. The tigriic's sense of smell, though better than other species, is not as acute as some of its other senses. Tigriic are classified as omnivores, as they consume both meats and plants, but often lean more towards a herbivorous diet for religious reasons. They also benefit from high calcium foods, such as milk from other animals.   A Tigriic's appearance is described with a coat of yellow to light orange to dark brown, with stripes of black; their belly, chest and the interior parts of their arms are white, and their tail is orange with black rings. Males and female differ slightly in average physic, males tend to have a stockier build and are a bit taller with broader stripes. Females, are seen as being much smaller in build and height, their stripes and fur coloring is also much brighter than that of males. The heads of Tigriic are about 332 to 376 mm (13.1 to 14.8 in) in length. They have short muzzles compared to the Caniic.

Genetics

Tigriic have a diploid genome made up of 23 pairs of chromosomes, similar to humans. However, their genetic makeup contains unique sequences that are specific to their feline physiology and evolution. For instance, Tigriic possess the glucocorticoid receptor gene that is responsible for the synthesis of hormones such as cortisol and epinephrine; these hormones regulate stress responses in felines.   The Tigriic also have a unique set of genes related to their acute sense of smell. They possess an additional odorant receptor gene (OR2) which is the source for their heightened sense of smell. This gene helps the Tigriic detect subtle scents in their environment which can give them useful information about potential threats. In terms of disease susceptibility, Tigriic are most susceptible to infectious diseases and parasites due to their lack of natural immunity to foreign pathogens. As such, they must receive vaccinations or medications at regular intervals throughout their lives to ensure optimal health and longevity.

Life cycle

Tigriic have a similar life cycle to humans, with an average lifespan of around 70-80 years. As with any other species that has a sexual reproductive system, Tigriic can reproduce with one another and have children. The gestation period for a Tigriic baby is around 9 months, after which they will be born live and completely dependent on their mothers for the first few years of their lives. At the age of 12, Tigriic reach sexual maturity and are able to reproduce. By their eighteenth year, Tigriic children are considered to be legal adults.

Diet

Tigriic are omnivores, which means that they consume both plants and animals. They tend to prefer plant-based foods over meats for religious reasons, but will also include meats in their diets if necessary. Tigriic’s main sources of proteins come from nuts, legumes, eggs, dairy products, and fish. Carbohydrates can be found in grains such as wheat and barley, vegetables like potatoes, and fruits like apples. Fruits and vegetables are also high in vitamins and minerals that help keep the Tigriic healthy.   In addition to regular meals, the Tigriic practice fasting during certain holidays or periods of spiritual contemplation. Fasting helps them focus on prayer or meditation better without having to be distracted by physical hunger. During fasting periods they consume no solid food but may drink water or other liquids such as juices or teas.

Naming conventions

The Tigriic naming traditions are deeply rooted in the context of the child's birth. Every aspect of the environment, from the place of birth to the surrounding people and objects, is taken into consideration when choosing a name for the newborn. The current climate and time of day also play a significant role in the naming process, as they are believed to influence the child's personality and future. However, it is the special occurrences that hold the most weight in Tigriic naming traditions. These could be anything from a rare celestial event to a significant cultural celebration. The name chosen for the child reflects the significance of the event and the hope for a prosperous future.   Tigriic nicknames, on the other hand, are closely tied to religion. They are often shortened versions of deity's names, chosen based on the individual's characteristics, habits, or personality. These nicknames are not only a way to address someone informally but also a way to honor the divine being they are named after. For instance, Suri is a diminutive form of Suraiya, which means "star" in Tigriic. Eir is a shortened version of Eirnest, which means "honest" in Tigriic. Tan is a nickname for Tanurn, which means "brave" in Tigriic. These names not only reflect the child's personality but also their connection to the divine.

Religion and spirituality

The Tigriic hold religion in high regard, as it is an integral part of their daily lives. Their religious practices are not uniform, but rather vary from tribe to tribe. Despite this, they all worship similar gods, albeit with different interpretations and beliefs. Tigriic are polytheistic, meaning they worship multiple gods, and over time, a pantheon of eighteen gods has developed.   Tigriic religion is a rich tapestry of beliefs, rituals, and mythology that has been passed down for nearly 2000 years. It encompasses both popular public religion and cult practices, which are deeply ingrained in their culture. Interestingly, the Tigriic do not have a word for 'religion' in the modern sense, and they do not classify their gods or cult practices into separate 'religions'. The Tigriic's religious practices are deeply rooted in their daily lives, and they believe that their gods play an active role in their lives. They offer sacrifices and perform rituals to appease their gods and seek their blessings. The Tigriic also believe in the power of divination and consult oracles to gain insight into their future.

Society

Tigriic are considered to be the most friendly and tranquil out of the Tíreian races. Their way of living focuses a lot on philosophy and political/educational discussion, making them a very informative and influential race when it comes to any type of diplomatic dialogue.   Tigriic are very connected with nature, appreciating most flora, fauna and landscapes to be almost equally important to their own lives. This judgment aligns with the majority of Tigriic traditional religion-related ideologies and practices, which usually involve taking care of plants, animals and, sometimes, even the nonliving components of the environment. The act of husbandry, terraforming or using wood and other natural materials for building is always performed taking in account the religious factors and consequences of these efforts, and most tend to meditate beforehand to reflect and explain to their deities the actions they are planning to do to seek their consent.   The core of the education system of the Tigriic is ethics discourse and societal understanding. This is the reason why many social sciences such as psychology, linguistics, sociology, history, geography or panthology (the Tigriic equivalent of anthropology) are studied in depth, while other hard sciences such as mathematics, physics, chemistry or biology are seen less extensively (botany and zoology being the exception). Different art subjects are also a big part of Tigriic education and, although taking these classes is purely optional, most individuals incoursionate into one or multiple creative activities throughout their student cycle. Sculpture and cuisine are the most valued forms of art.   Democracy and civilian representation are an important factor for the Tigriic, making them able to discuss political matters with a phlegmatic temper, an aspiration to understand others and the ability to reach a healthy consensus of everyone's needs and desires. This makes other races perceive them as natural diplomats and peacemakers, usually being consulted and convened when a truce, alliance or declaration needs to be established (i.e The formal Alliance between Caniic and humans, and the Treaty of the Marshes).

Government and politics

Also see: Struyix Republic

The Tigriic Government is a combination of two powerful governing philosophies: the democratic and the theocratic. This combination allows for an effective way to govern the people without either system becoming too oppressive or dominating. The government is headed by a President, who is elected every five years in a general election from among all of the eligible Tigriic citizens. The President has full executive power over all matters related to national defense, foreign affairs, economics, and public services. He or she can also call for votes on national issues and appoint ministers when needed.   A Prime Minister is appointed by the President to oversee the day-to-day government operations, with the assistance of various departments which handle specific areas such as finance, defense, education and agriculture. The Prime Minister is responsible for passing legislation approved by both presidential decree and majority vote in parliament.   The High Priest of the Pantheon serves as the head of religious authority within Tigriic society. This leader acts as an intermediary between citizens and their deities, mediates disputes between communities, and provides spiritual counsel when needed.   The legislature is composed of an elected Parliament which meets every six months to discuss new laws and regulations that will affect all citizens. Each region of Stryuix and the colony of Tilnypso sends representatives to Parliament based on population size; however, all regions get equal voting rights regardless of size or strength since they are considered equals in this system.

Fashion and dress

The oppressive climate of Struyix makes it impractical to wear heavy clothing and armor. The typical Tigriic fashion primarily consists of the chiton, peplos, himation, and chlamys. Tigriic civilians typically wear two pieces of clothing draped about the body: an undergarment and a cloak. Tigriic clothing is mainly based on necessity, function, materials, and protection rather than identity. Thus, clothes are quite simple, draped, loose-fitting and free-flowing. Customarily, clothing is homemade and cut to various lengths of rectangular linen or wool fabric with minimal cutting or sewing, and secured with ornamental clasps or pins, and a belt, or girdle.   Pieces are generally interchangeable between men and women. However, women usually wear their robes to their ankles while men generally wore theirs to their knees depending on the occasion and circumstance.

Armor

Much like the rest of their attire, tigriic armor is often composed of lightweight materials and generally has a quite simple design. The thickest part of the armor is usually the chestplate and helmet which are both made from a type of leather the is resistant to sharp punctures and all but highest energy blasts. Leg armor is obviously less protective consisting of just wool pants and leather shin guards. Shoes are almost always open-toed, unless onboard starships or space stations. Wrist gauntlets are also worn for communication with a health monitor to maintain the tigriic’s physical condition.

Trade and economics

Trade and economics in Tigriic society are intricately woven into the fabric of their daily lives. The economy thrives on a system of bartering and exchange, where goods and services are traded based on their value and necessity.   The economy is primarily driven by agriculture, mining, and trade routes. The fertile lands of Stryuix yield abundant crops of grain, fruits, and vegetables, which are distributed among the regions based on their population size and needs. Each region specializes in certain crops or goods, creating a network of trade and interdependence. The trading routes that connect the regions are carefully maintained and protected by both the Struyix Republican Guard, ensuring the safe passage of goods and maintaining the stability of the economy.

Relations with Other Species

See: Caniic and Sauruanian

The Tigriic have a long history of peaceful coexistence with the Caniic race. This alliance has been solidified by their shared values and goals, as well as their strategic alliance against common enemies. The two races have a history of cultural exchange, and trade.   The Caniic are a canine-like species that possess immense physical strength and agility, making them valuable allies in battle. The Tigriic greatly value this attribute and have often sought the help of the Caniic in times of war. In addition to this alliance, the Tigriic and Caniic also have strong economic ties. The Tigriic trade goods such as textiles, precious and metals, in exchange for Caniic agricultural products, rare resources, and advanced weaponry. The two races also share certain cultural similarities, such as their belief in a pantheon of deities with similar traits, values, and roles. This common religion has further strengthened their bond and understanding of each other's cultures.   Relations between the Tigriic and Sauruanian race are much more complicated. Their strong individualistic nature often leads to clashes with other races. Many Tigriic view the Sauruanian with both admiration and caution due to their impressive abilities but also fear due to their unpredictable behavior. Though there have been instances of cooperation between the two races for mutual benefit, it is not uncommon for tensions to arise between them.   The main source of conflict between these two races stems from their differing societal structures. The Tigriic live in a highly structured society with common civil liberties and freedoms while the Sauruanian live under more chaotic circumstances where individual strength reigns supreme. However, despite these differences, there have been efforts made by both sides to understand and accept one another. The Tigriic government has established diplomatic relations with the Sauruanian, hoping to foster a sense of understanding and cooperation. Diplomatic envoys from each race have been exchanged, and cultural exchange programs have been initiated to bridge the gap between their societies.
