Dreamblights

The magical backlash of the Moonbreaker created dangerous phenomena that scar the land to this day. One of the most unsettling are areas where Dal Quor manifest zones were forcefully stripped away from the fabric of the Material. The result are regions of hyper-mundanity known as dreamblights. Every dreamblight is unaffected by events such as shifting zones, and sits as a permanent area devoid of all joy.

The Doldrums. The first signs of a dreamblight are one’s senses deadening; colors dull, sounds are flat and the imagination struggles. Animals within such an area appear to be going through the motions like automata. The further one goes, the more the bleak mundanity begins to grate. Forming visual ideas or novel concepts become impossible, limiting thoughts to the same ideas over and over. Magic gradually begins to fail as spellcasters cannot grasp the abstraction of forming spells. Emotions die, and everything becomes rote.

Greywash. A creature that sleeps in such an area never experiences dreams, but the side effects can be maddening. The more time one spends within a dreamblight, the more sickening and overwhelming the rest of the world becomes. The potential and wonder are terrifying, and dreams become so vivid as to blend with reality. Meanwhile, the intrusive thoughts and depressing weight of existence begin to clog one’s mind. Effort becomes impossible, trying becomes futile. The dreamblight is a comforting blanket made of lead, and its weight only grows stronger by the day.
