Sami, the Charming
Amir Sami ibn Harun
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
He is chiseled. All over. Chiseled face, chiseled abs, chiseled voice. Does that make sense? Who cares, it's true.
Body Features
Tanned, and smooth, golden skin
Facial Features
Long nose, square face with a sharp chin, and eyebrows angled down. His beard is light and slightly longer than stubble. A dimple on his right cheek makes him look much younger than he is.
Identifying Characteristics
That dimple.
Physical quirks
Ambidextrous - as most haris train to be. Always a casual gait, and walk. Just loose and relaxed. What would he be stressed about?
Apparel & Accessories
Usually he wears shirwal and a long tunic that stops at his knees - sometimes the tunic is royal blue with white detailing and sash, and sometimes it's the opposite. His sayf is always hanging tied at the belt of his tunic. The tunic is long-sleeved, and has clasps along the torso for it to be closed. He always has the first few clasps undone - sometimes all of them are undone. What can he say? He's not gonna spend that much time getting fit only to hide it. He usually wears sandals, flat leather shoes, or embroidered slippers, at home. When there's a party, he dresses up real well. Jewels everywhere. He's like a lantern. People flock to him like moths. He has a turban too, but he doesn't like wearing it, preferring instead to let his shiny honey brown hair wave in the breeze. When he does wear it, he embeds it with jewels, and strings of pearls. He's so ostentatious.
Mental characteristics
Education
He had his own tutors, along with his sister, Sami, and Saleh. Meriel was too sickly to be taught with them. After he finished general schooling, he went into combat school. He didn't need employment, as an amir, but he wanted to do something, and fighting fit.
Employment
He uses his charm and intellect by being the face of the throne. He and his sister go out to the outer villages to see how they're getting on. They kind of keep the peace in the kingdom - so when the civilians think the malik isn't thinking of them, Sali and Sami come along to prove them wrong. They visit different villages and the people line up to tell them their concerns and issues. They're a pretty lovable duo - he's charming as all heck, and she's so beautiful and intense, you can barely look away from her. They're not sure how much their visits change anything, but people seem to still like them, so it's all good - maybe they know they're only the messengers. Anyway, Sami likes his job, and he enjoys also volunteering his time with the Palace Haris and refining his fighting skills.
Intellectual Characteristics
A smiling assassin. That's what they call him. He's never killed a man. But they know he can. And they know, beneath that charming, dimpled grin, there's a barely leashed beast. They all still love him, and people throw flowers at his feet, but they are wary of him. Also, he kinda kills with his words. He has a tight grasp on the language, and can weave words together to wound any man or woman. He took the arts seriously. He loves to dance and sing, and his singing voice comes out naturally melodiously. He doesn't even have to try. He has rhythm.
Morality & Philosophy
Death is never on his mind. What's the point of thinking about something you can't change? He's gonna die, sure. But first, he's gonna live!
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
He just wants to have fun.
Also, there's this girl. A servant girl. She's been working at the palace for many years. Her name is Raja. And - ok, he knows he's an amir and she's a servant and there's no way that'll ever happen, and also she's never shown the slightest interest in him - but he kinda really likes her. Dammit. Maybe one day she'll like him too. And then what, Sami? Did you think of that?
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Sucks at logic games. Can't be bothered sitting down, sorting out puzzles and riddles. Who has the time? He is very good at fighting, of course, and very good at being a diplomat. People like agreeing with him, he's found.
Likes & Dislikes
He hates traveling. It's so bloody boring, sitting in a carriage. It does help that people look admiringly at the carriage as they roll by, and throw flowers at them. Sometimes he indulges them, and pops his head out of the carriage to say hello. Most of the time, it's so dull, he could pull his hair out. And he has done so. What he likes is fun - he loves being loud and boisterous. He loves a party, and will often be the last one on any dance floor, only ever second to his sister, if anyone. Loves indulging his sweet tooth, and loves working it off in combat drills. He's full of energy, and he loves life.
Virtues & Personality perks
Funny, fun, charming, endearing. He loves to make people laugh, and smile. He loves to be helpful. He always offers his help, whenever anything needs to be done. He's a breath of fresh air.
Vices & Personality flaws
He needs to slow down, sometimes. His sister is wild too, though, so it runs in the family. He doesn't like getting emotional, or talking about feelings. He doesn't like feeling vulnerable. He's the friend you go to for a wild night, not a quiet night of advice and reflection. He can't comfort people for shit.
Personality Quirks
Claps his hands a lot. Maybe he likes being heard. He definitely loves being the centre of attention. Maybe his claps are like a word of finality. Or a way to rile people up, get them excited.
Hygiene
He takes care of his appearance. He always looks immaculate, and he rarely wears the same thing twice. His clothes always shine, even when he's in the dusty villages. He is a beacon of light. His beard is always the same length - just longer than stubble - kinda like a shadow. He thinks it makes him look approachable, and debonair, at the same time. He's right.
Social
Contacts & Relations
He has many friends, of the noble variety, and he invites them to the palace grounds often. He also loves to go out on the town, whenever possible. He has a personal haris, but he's usually never bothered by anyone. He isn't so standoffish, unlike his sister, who prefers to be seen from afar only (unless you're in her bed, then you can see her up close), and has places cleared out if she wants to visit them (bathhouses, malls, etc.). Sami enjoys getting to know the coffeehouse owners, and shopping for things for himself. He knows Isir, the Fortuneteller, and Sinan, the Clever - not very well, but enough. He had his coffee read by the lovely Isir. It was intense. He loved it. And he liked her, too. Perhaps they had a bit of fun - don't tell anyone. But he's busy pining over Raja to be committed to anyone else. Besides, a fortuneteller marry an amir? That would never happen. He also likes Zarqa, al Malika, al Ealia - he sees her usually in the menagerie, and they chat a bit. Everyone says she's mad, and she is a little unhinged, but she's still fun. And lovely.
Family Ties
Everyone in the palace. Of them all, his favourite is Zaria, the Heiress. They get along famously. He even helps her sneak out, when the time comes. He also advocated for her being aloud to go to the outer villages with him and his sister, and the malik couldn't care less about his daughter, so that happened. Zaria wasn't all that impressed with the outer villages. It started a fire in her belly about injustice. Her father never listened to her, but the fire stayed there, waiting to be stoked. Sami also likes his nephew Gadi, the Annoying, though he is a bit annoying. But he's a good kid, overall, and he's his nephew, so he's gotta take him under his wing. Gadi's a little bit too scared, though. Of what, who knows? Go look at his character profile, if you're so keen!
Religious Views
He isn't religious. Life is short, then you die. That's his motto.
Social Aptitude
The biggest flirt. Totally charismatic. Extremely confident, in front of large and small groups. He has refined manners, of course, but sometimes he goes off the rails. He needs to be told sometimes to take a step back. His ego is pretty big. He's gorgeous, fit, an amir, intelligent, rich af. He's got it all! (except the girl, but don't remind him).
Hobbies & Pets
He loves Buthyana - mainly because she seems to love him. She sits on his lap a lot. He's gonna be grossed out when the truth is revealed, eh? But he hasn't got his own pets. Life's too short, and then you die! No time for a pet!
Speech
Says 'ah' a lot - like he's figured something out, or he knows more than you. But it's endearing. Like he's just poking fun at you. Don't stress too much. He compliments freely, doesn't insult, except to poke a bit of fun. He likes seeing people smile, so his words are usually honey. He doesn't get impassioned about anything, really. He needs a reality check. And he may just get one.
