Failure of the Blockhead Expedition

Once, the Mothers were a team committed to a cause-- they were to be the first of their kind to look in upon their solar system from beyond its bounds. Inom intercepted.

Before they'd even passed the orbit of the final planet in their system, the First Interstellar Expedition of the Blockhead Empire vanished. Communications went silent. Tracking turned up null. Six-and-sixty carefully-selected blockheads presumed dead and the loss of assets was astronomical. This was the blockheads' Challenger, only far less explainable.   Except the crew survived, down to the last woman. Their shuttle crashed in the Triad of Ash, near where the Slate Fortress stands today, long before it was called by that name. It was another one of those crashes Inom is known for, where the ship is unsalvageable and the crew mostly or entirely survive, albeit a little battered. And so the blockheads came to Inom.
