Their Mother cannibalized and their Slatespawn neighbors razing their villages, the Indies had to find somewhere to live.

In the aftermath of the Indies' Massacre, the Indie tribe of blockheads were homeless, leaderless, and soon to be subsumed into the Slatespawn if they didn't do something. So they packed up their things and surviving family members before leaving under the command of the Indie who would soon become First Matron of Indies' Warren.   The Indies could not find anywhere to settle for eight and a half months. Both other species and other tribes of blockhead would bully them out of their territories. Even where there were neither, the palespawn would target their camps hard for the delightful variety in prey. As it turned out, the only place that would have the Indies was the mountain-ruins in Northern Anicoja, where none else would think of settling.   It was rough and many of the herbivorous young starved, but they eventually brought arable soil up the mountainside and established their hunting parties. The tribe numbered about 100, mostly indies, at this point. It's demonstrably grown since then.
