For Hooves the Bell Tolls - Chapter Seven

A Town in the Mire Thorzan, Marinus, Malbrix, & A.G.R. 653 Post Maelstrom

Marinus and Malbrix are standing on a flat plane of mirror-like glass showing no reflection. Marinus is still laying on the ground unconscious and a dark spirit approaches Malbrix offering out to her a black obsidian knife. "Sacrifice," it hisses "Marinus."
Malbrix refuses and the shade plunges the dagger into Malbrix heart. Marinus snaps awake, and jumps to their feet, grabbing the dagger sticking out of Malbrixs chest. The shade, with a raspy chuckle, fades into the darkness.

In the swamp, AGR and Thorzan Shatterbeard awake. Thorzan is drawn into a ray of sunlight that cuts down through the clouds and Thorzans eyes glow with light. In the far distance AGR hears their pursers shout "Hey look at that light" "yeah, that's got to be our guys" "After them."
Thorzan steps into the same vision that Marinus and Malbrix are experiencing. Thorzan sees Marinus standing holding a dagger plunged into Malbrix chest. Thorzan grabs the pair and the three fall through the glass splashing into the waters of the swamp around their camp.
They begin quickly gathering up the camp to flee when the realize that Quthbert still hasn't woken. Unsure of why he isn't waking Thorzan moves Quthbert onto his mule while AGR begins leading Spike. The party flees into the swamp once more.
They do a good job of obscuring their tracks and they make good time through the swamp. A giant crocodile attacks the party, but they make quick work of the croc without even alerting their pursers.
The party reaches the main road again and they, knowing how long it would take to travel through the swamp, decide to head into town in the hopes of setting out on the road once they leave.
In the town of Gil, AGR finds a bed for Quthbert in The Redwood Blossom - Inn. The group then starts out to check out the town. Thorzan stops at Nuzera's Flame - Blacksmith and gets in an argument with Nuzera. While AGR decides to ask the bar tender some questions in the Wolfhawks Howl - Tavern.
The group then sees the Revenant Cathedral across town. Marinus, Malbrix, and Thorzan head over to check it out and to Thorzans dismay he sees the head of his dear friend Charles mounted above the grand entrance.
Thorzan cries out and in his anger threatens the Revenant Brigade. They get in an argument and Thorzan ends up storming off in a rage.
Malbrix and Marinus go inside to talk to the brigade and see if they can discover anything about the town. The brigade lets them check out their library, but its just a small room with only a couple of shelves. They pilfer a couple of useful items and bail before the brigade realizes they were taking stuff.
AGR, at the Wolfhawks Howl, finds out from the bartender that the Revenant Brigade is well respected in the town. They might not work for free, but at least they keep the town safe. At the end of the day even soldiers need to feed themselves and their families.
