The Anarchy

Revolution

A period of lawless feudal struggle establishing Simon Aimery as overlord of the Britannian battle lords.

This period of conflict is sometimes referred to as the Third Mortmare Civil War. Unlike the first two civil wars, however, the Anarchy led to a temporary collapse of central government and the total breakdown of civil order.   Through the military aid of Prince Tepin Rathmore, Simon asserted command in the chaos and rose to absolute primacy. Many valorous knights of the Chamberlain Protectorate era are slain in this conflict, which is often regarded as the end of the Heroic Age.   After the Anarchy, Lord Aimery institutes a government known as the Ruling Protectorate and began to govern on behalf of Isabella II as a benevolent military despot.
