Zyatok Hangi Character in In the Shadow of Princes | World Anvil

Zyatok Hangi

Ziyatok "Zen" Hangi

Ziyatok has been banished from Pachuco City because he is a Firewalker. As a Firewalker he is gifted by visions that are of this world and the other. He lives in a waking dream as his mind drifts between the astral worlds. Supernatural, physical, the living and dead, time and space, for a Firewalker, all these realms become one. This is a blessing and a curse to the people and descendants of Orad Empire.   The people of Pachuco, like their forefathers, banish the visionary “Firewalkers” from their society. Partly for fear of the legends and partly because of tradition. The legends, told in stories and songs, tell of two Cataclysms. The first corresponds to the annihilation of the general Cataclysm that destroyed all the known world. The second Cataclysm marked the destruction of Orad, a post-Precursor empire. The stories tell of how Firewalkers caused the destruction of Orad.   As a Firewalker, Zen must face his visions given by the sun gods Ohrmazd or Ahriman. He is haunted and hunted for the visions of a cataclysmic eternity, of a doomed and now forgotten city. He is driven by an urge to return to the place beheld in his vision and face the waking dreams that haunt him day and night. Will they lead him and his people to their true home in Orad to be with their gods, or will he become the bringer of a new Cataclysm? To face his visions and link with them, become one with them, realize them and be reborn through them is the path of the Firewalker, directly communicated by the gods Ohrmazd or Ahriman.
