The Great Eclipse
The Party first came to know of this impending celestial event during their exploration of the Allodee refuge. Upon the circles of the necropolis calendar wheel, they learned of a series of significant eclipses ending with a final eclipse on May 11th, 3167 AD.
At the time, this piece of information seemed to be a trivial detail; however, the Party encountered a second calendar wheel inside the Void-corrupted Moon Vault, and this calendar referred to that date as the Great Eclipse. Accompanying artworks represented the Great Eclipse with horrifying apocalyptic imagery. (See the banner image to this page.)
The god-like Thunderbird explained that the Great Eclipse signified a convergence of the Void and Material Reality, during which the Void Empyreans would finally be able to bridge the vast depths of chaos and physically incarnate in our world. During this eclipse, Admenoth's original Void Gate would be thrust open, never to close again. That is, unless the artifacts of the Cosmic Apparatus could be reunited to seal the gate forever. Zoran Mander of Tabazan echoed this assessment of the situation and pledged to help the PCs find the Forbidden City and restore the Star Rod (one third of the Cosmic Apparatus).
