The Awakened

The condition of being "awakened" (also known as "susciatus" or "evigilatus") refers to the state of higher cognitive awareness and functionality achieved by individuals with psionic talents. The teachings of Phoenix Grandmaster Golan Trevize instruct that those who unlock their psionic potential and become Awakened are no longer thought of as belonging to the same race as typical human beings. Trevize’s theories recognize psionic beings as the first of a new race of super-humans: Homo susciatus, the awakened man. According to the doctrine of the Phoenix Order, the conscious limitations of the Homo sapien mind are artificial impediments to the innate and infinite capacity of the Homo susciatus. For the Phoenix, the goal of a global “mass-awakening” represents the fulfillment of humanity’s collective destiny. In their view, the earthly dominion of Homo susciatus represents what Grandmaster Trevize calls the “Eschaton,” the end-point of human evolution and history.
