Orad Gateway Arch

Forgotten beacon of the lost Orad Empire

Also known as the "Black Arch" or "Black Ring," this structure was built by Orad refugees during the Mindfire Diaspora circa 200 PCE. It was built as a waypoint for descendants of Mindfire survivors in the hopes that future descendants could one day return to the old lands of Orad and reclaim their ancient birthright in the lost Precursor kingdom.

Made of hardened black "Precursor Stone," the arch was actually a ring built around the Radium River. It contained a concealed guidestone inscribed with a map directing the way to an installation known as Renewal Station 3. This station had been one of the last bastions of Orad civilization before their inevitable collapse, and the fact that it remains secret to this day indicates that the people who resettled the Silver Lake region in the fourth century PCE had no true knowledge of the Orad legacy.

The ring was inscribed with a riddle and equipped with a dial activation mechanism for opening the hidden guidestone. When crew members of the Thorpe Expedition inadvertently solved the riddle by correctly aligning the mechanism through random chance, the guidestone was revealed and the ring crumbled into the river leaving nothing but black rubble.
