Orad Empire

The Orad were a technologically advanced civilisation that emerged during the Age of Poisoned Sea and Sky. They reigned throughout the mountainous regions north of the Forbidden Zone and maintained outposts in the south from Eloy to the Silent Sea.
The nature and extent of their scientific knowledge is not well understood. The stories told of it speak of miracles and magic rather than mathematics or theory.
According to legends, the Orad used their advanced science to hold back the Badland Tribes and help the Visitors begin the Recovery of the Zone. Together, they constructed great pumping and purification stations designed to purge toxins from groundwater and recover arable land for agriculture and settlement.
The Orad declined and faded from history during the Age of Recovery. It is said that a Second Cataclysm decimated the Orad population sometime around the year 250 PCE. The nature of this disaster is unknown though it was s widely believed that the Fall of Orad was somehow caused by the emergence of psionic Firewalkers.
The Orad solar cult formed the basis for the sun worship still practiced by Zoner tribes, who still use the lost Ornish language i their sacred rites.

The Orad were ruled by a priest-emperor identified with their sun god, Ohrmaz.
