Alienist Arcana

Alienists seek to exploit subtle gaps in conventional reality in order to exploit the powers and properties of alternate dimensions or planes.
Unlike Arcane Animism, which describes a very specific theory and method of arcane spell casting, Arcane Alienism should actually be understood as a category including numerous magical theories and practices.
Alienism is based upon the realization that beyond the conventional local reality we inhabit there are other realities and worlds. These alternate planes of existence do not constitute an empty void. They are teeming with life, alien intelligences beyond human belief. Alienists understand that if you know how to chant into the multiverse voices will chant back to you in the inscrutable tongues of other worlds. If one could train one’s ear to hear true, what secrets would those whispering voices carry? What power could they reveal?
The practitioner of alienism has many possible approaches to arcane study. Through Pact Magic he may seek to curry favour with patrons across the planes and access the magic of powerful extraplanar outsiders in exchange for service and favours. A Namer seeks to subdue alien entities and bind them to his service. Channellers seek out planes of magic where physical laws radically differ from those of our own universe and draw their energies into the earth plane. All of these techniques seek to transfer arcane energy from alternate realities to our own plane of existence.
