Lasers are common used technology in the Imperium Stellaris. Lasers are utilized in tools, especially those used in taking measurements. Laser are are also commonly used in weapons technologies, such as laser pistols and laser rifles.
Lasers, since they are based on light, are affected by things, substances, and situations that interfere with the propagation of light waves. There are ways that these effects can be compensated for by different tuning of the light spectrum being used and modifications of the focusing crystals used to generate the laser beam.
