Morelia
the Prosperous Kingdom
A sweeping city compared to the eastern villages of Illium (continent), Morelia is a coastal settlement surrounded otherwise by the treacherous slopes of the Spine of Rhazan.
The kingdom is divided into 3 districts, ruled independently and unofficially by the Rosestone Family, Willowthorn Family, and Virith family.
Demographics
The city is diverse in its population. Notable fewer dragonborn than anyone else, though. Both full elves and half-elves live in Morelia. Half-orcs are welcome, but not full orcs. There are a few tiefling families but not many that are not the Virith family.
Government
Morelia's three districts are governed by three families (one family to each). The families provide work, law, and order to the rest of the populace thanks to the wealth of their early generations, and their tradition of raising adventurers to travel into the Spine of Rhazan in search of treasure hoards.
Over the past 30 years, due to the growth of the city, many have taken to calling Morelia a kingdom, despite no king. Perhaps it is this that has caused power struggles between the ruling families to escalate over that time frame.
Defences
The mage guild was formed in order to help improve defenses in the area. They routinely check up on protective wards to keep the wildlife away, and utilize their skills to keep the adventurer guild informed about the perimeter of the city. The plethora of adventurers provides a defense to the city from many monsters and bandit groups.
The mountainside and ocean provide a natural defense, but also keep Morelia quite isolated to any other settlements other than by seafaring.
Infrastructure
Dwarven stonework makes up the roadways of Morelia, while elvin produce and knowledge of the forest allow for ample food supply. The three main guilds of Morelia are often commissioned by one of the three big families to various tasks, be those improvements in the roadways, new bridges, the clearing of nearby monsters, or efforts at better illumination at night.
Morelia is currently working on the development of a system of running water, which has been asked to the Grand Masons and Masters of the Craftsmen guild. Currently, is it waiting on several excursions into the mountains to clear out a nest of ogres residing by the lake.
Guilds and Factions
There are many small groups within the city, but the most prominent and the ones that oversee the formation and regulation of all the others are the Craftsman Guild, the Mage Guild, and the Adventurer Guild.
Additionally, the city is currently home to several religious sects, and is where the Children of Moradin seemed to have begun their faith. Other notable groups include the [Reflections of the Forms] and the [Ionians].

Geography
The city lies in a flat base of a mountain range. It is surrounded either by water or steep slopes, but is the only known settlement along the wesern coast of Illium (continent).
Natural Resources
Great mines exist just outside the city limits. Often the craftsmen guild and adventurer guild work in tandem to explore them. These mines are rich in minerals and precious metals, but are exceedingly dangerous. Smaller stone quarries dot the mountains.
The surrounding mountains are lush with fruit-bearing trees and wild vegetation, as well as ample game to hunt. As with the mines though, the hunters of Morelia are not the only predator of the mountains.
Morelia's waters are right in a natural tidal trap for migratory shellfish.
