A Demiplane of Dragons

Written by AntleredPanda

At the beginning of time, even before the time of the known Gods, when the universe was new and ever-changing, a being said to be larger than the infamous Tarrasque, explored the void of space and decided to give shape to the two constant forces they saw throughout - Creation and Destruction. This being, known as the God of Dragons, created forms to house these world-shaping forces akin to their likeness, and thus created the two immortal ancestors, gargantuan draconic beings of great power. These two embodied the forces of creation and destruction, and wherever creation was sought, destruction soon brought an end as these beings rampaged through the young cosmos.   From within this cycle of forces, a new being took form unexpectedly, a being that bloomed from the creation and destruction and found a way to cope with the chaos and even thrive within it. The first mortal dragon, a dragon harnessing both creation and destruction, a draconic being of Nature. This mortal being desperately wanted to see what they could do with the power of the chaos and began training their powers and creating new life just to destroy it and recreate it better. But before this life bringer knew it, their creations had taken on a cycle of their own and soon spread and adapted of their own accord. The world became lush and green and blue and brown, and white, and formed what would be known as the material plane.   Among all this creation, Destruction became infuriated, feeling betrayed and outnumbered, and soon went to war with Creation, who had been working with Nature to pursue even more complex creations. In rage and fury, the two immortal ancestors battled over the world they had occupied and soon nothing was left but traces of the lifeblood of Natures' creations. Seeing this destruction, Nature flew as high as they could and harnessed the last bit of strength they had to absorb the energy of life she had created and gave form to what would be their last creation, an immortal dragon, ethereal and serpentine in form. This new being held the power to manipulate the essence that was the base of all life and creation as well as the force of death and destruction. This being was the force of Mana, the embodiment of what would become known as the weave or as some may call it Arcana or Magic.   The creation of a new immortal was powerful, which attracted the attention of the God of Dragons. Seeing the chaos and destruction that these beings had brought, they became furious. This being created a demi-plane and exiled the Ancestors, allowing them a lair of their choice and cursing them. These dragons could only be dragons within the confines of their lair and their lair would not allow them outside until the Winter solstice, where they must take their human form and may roam for 8 days. Should they be found outside their lair any other time, they would forfeit their draconic form and their immortality and live out their days at the natural life span of their humanoid form. With the death of Nature and the new immortal Mana being innocent in this destruction, the god left the demi-plane in the care of Mana and with the help of Creation, began to rebuild the world, creating Nature once more and infusing the demi-plane with magic and life.     And life continued on for a time, peacefully Mana and Nature created a lush world full of vibrant and large plant life and equally as stunning creatures, strange beasts from Creation, Mana, and Nature. It was peaceful for thousands of years before Destruction became fed up with the creation that was taking over the realm. In their anger, Destruction became what they had been loathing for millennia and created a beast to horrify and terrify, a beast to destroy the entire demi-plane if released; A Tarrasque. Creation the others found out before the monster was ready, yet Nature insisted on staying neutral, as they embodied both creation and destruction. So Mana and Creation hatched a plan: they would need time and they would need the Tarrasque in sight and occupied to seal it away.   And the day came soon after, the ground quaking throughout the demi-plane. Mana used their connection and pulled two large beasts from the Astral Sea into the realm; two Astral Dreadnaughts. The battle was fierce and short, as Mana and Creation completed the ritual to seal the Tarrasque away. The relic Tarrasque was then buried somewhere within the Demi-plane and sealed once more. Destruction retreated to their lair as Mana and Nature began to reshape and reform the demi-plane. Creation decided to separate themselves from their children, as they had heard the New Gods had. With both Creation and Destruction tucked away and likely to be resting for thousands of years, Mana and Nature decided to offer the lush flora they had created to creations other than that of those Primordials. In turn, these being opened four portals and invited creatures from different times and places within the multiverse and thus created the Age of Fae, the magical precursor era to the current time in Ilhacia.
How this Age of Fae rose and fell is another story, to be discovered in the vast expanses other the Wonder Wilds and the ruins that lie there
