The The Mania Outbreak started unassumingly in Hikitagato, Republic of Ima. Due to the port located in Hikitagato the illness spread quickly before anyone recognized how dangerous the illness truly was. Due to the nature of the first symptoms the people who became symptomatic quicky had to have help from those around them leading to even easier spread of the illness from person to person.

Causes

Cause: Easy Transmissible bacterial (resistant to most antibiotics) .

Symptoms

**Possible symptoms:**

double vision

confusion

blood in urine

tingling feet (not in all cases)

excess sweating (uncommon)

Organ Failure

Muscle decay

lung scaring

**What to expect: double vision and confusion generally start within a few days, but both symptoms may differ in severity. After the initial onset, double vision often becomes less severe after a few days. Around this time blood in urine is experienced by almost all cases.**
**The experience of blood in urine generally leads to a decrease of the experience of confusion.**
**After a few more days tingling feet is experienced often and is generally experienced at moderate levels.**
**Throughout the course of the disease, excess sweating may be experienced, but only in very specific cases and is generally not experienced to extreme levels.**

Treatment

Treatment: Heavy medication and suppressant routine.
Medication: Due to the resistant to most antibiotics the treatments used were mostly for symptom repression versus actual treatment or prevention. Even these the few antibiotics that worked tended to have truly horrendous side effects including the inability to eat, migraines, muscle pain, sleepiness and other.

Prognosis

The condition was fatal in 1 in 8 people who contracted the illness and became symptomatic. The most concerning symptoms were

excess sweating (uncommon)

The sweating could be to the point where it because difficult to keep hydrated.
Organ failure, muscle decay and lung scaring tended to all onset at the same time causing treatment of these symptoms to almost be impossible.

Affected Groups

This bacteria targeted everyone but illness tended to be worse in those that had low body fat and spent large amounts of time outside.

Epidemiology

It was eventually found that this illness originated in various biting water insects which is why it originally showed up in the harbor/port.
This even quickly became a pandemic and effected the world and was one of the events that lead to the upcoming war.
