Kragmere

Orcs constructed the city of Kragmere in the peace that followed the fall of Vizden. Orcs stayed in the mountains for most of the Age of Giants. As their numbers grew in the aftermath, they moved down onto the plains to the west of Kin-Grak. They built the great city of Kragmere, nestled against the lower slopes of Kingrak, the greatest mountain in the Mountains of Razdún. Surrounded by towns of orc-folk dotted across the arid scrubland plains, sworn to a series of progressive and open Grand Warchiefs, the city grew prosperous and tradely widely with the races beyond their borders.   The attack on Kollerdörf resulted in many orcs of the western plains being wiped out and their lands turned to dust. Kragmere remained as the bastion of orc culture, and the next millennium passed with the city growing to a bristling metropolis.   No one knows from where they came, but illithid entered the region and proceeded to destroy the city of Kragmere. The fate of the Exhalted Grand Warchief, Urzul Bonehammer, is unknown, although it is believed he was either slain or taken alive. The panicked orcs scattered across the plains. Unable to regroup and successfully decide a new leader or course of action, the clans decended into civil war. Outsiders have watched this in-fighting with dread, fearing to enter the orc lands and get caught in the brutal crossfire. Ashamed of their inability to resist the illithid, the orcs have not spoken of the fate of Kragmere to any outsiders to date.   The fate of the Exhalted Grand Warchief, Urzul Bonehammer, is unknown, although it is believed he was either slain or taken alive by the mind flayers when they descended on Kragmere.   Little is understood of outsiders who make it across the orc-plains to the city of Kragmere. They return from the city with little information, as if the facts have been sucked from their mind. Oftentimes, when the moon reaches a point in the sky, or when a candle throws a glow on their face, a strange cast can been seen in their gaze, making observers doubt for a moment whether their actions are even their own.
