Barstool Burning

History

Years ago it is said a poor man had his nether regions bitten off when the barstool he had the misfortune to sit on, turned out to be a monster (a mimic).

Participants

Almost all of the Rouvray citizens participate.

Observance

Every year on the same day, the citizens of Rouvray and some of the surrounding towns, celebrate by getting drunk and burning all of the barstools and chairs of all the taverns and inns in the city in the plazas and city squares. The tavern owners then use the proceeds of the day to buy new barstools the following day, often still making a profit. The furniture makers of the town also profit nicely from the event and ensure they have plenty of stock in advance to deliver the day after the burning.
