Warforged

Warforged are an artificial race created by the collective might of the dwarven clans in a time past when they were massacred by an invading extra-planar force from the elemental stage of earth. In this historical war, the dwarves population nearly dropped below a sustainable amount, and so the Warforged were designed and created to act as supplemental soldiers and workers to stem their constant losses. In more modern times, the Warforged live in a semi-equivalent state with their once master dwarves. While you can still commission the creation of a Warforged, it comes with the understanding that this is a living person with a soul, not some construct to be issued for relentless tasks. The souls of Warforged are plucked from the source, where souls form before they are able to find a body to inhabit. This sometimes causes strange minor quirks within Warforged, like in instances where a soul was destined to become a crow, the Warforged might find themselves with the odd habit of collecting small shiny objects and an excellent capacity to mock people.
