Prophecy for the End of the World

Summary

When towers sprout from the earth, warriors will walk the land with the powers of the gods. When each warrior breathes their final breath, the light of the world will be consumed by darkness.

Historical Basis

While it is assumed that it is a prophecy for the future, some scholars believe that it may have been about the fall of the Illuna. Evidence of this is from the fact that numerous Illuna ruins have the prophecy engraved in them. There have been several expeditions that have searched for the towers. To date, no evidence has been found for these towers.

Spread

The prophecy is well known among scholars of the Illuna and prophets of Werno.

Variations & Mutation

While the general wording changes, this is largely due to the differences in the languages and not their actual meaning.

Cultural Reception

Several cultures have received the prophecy in a similar fashion, the difference in the cultures depends on their approach to existential dread. Humans are mostly the most active in trying to stop the end of the world while the Wood Elves accept the end of the world as a natural cycle doing nothing to prevent it.

In Art

One of the 99 Paintings of Loranan Nasir gives a depiction of tall towers. While he was alive it was claimed that he didn't remember painting it.
