Furabatu

The light of the mansion began to vanish with the setting sun. Helena was staying late that night. The master had recently invited a party of guests to the home. They had taken off that evening and the staff had much more to handle that night. Helena, being the head maid, sent several of the other maids home and took up some of the final work herself. From down the hall she heard a knock on the door. The slamming echoed, and she rushed to see who was here at this hour.   She pulled the massive wood door open. Standing before her was a half-elf man with a distant gaze. His mouth was hanging partly open.   "Can I help you?" Helena said. The half-elf seemed to have his attention drawn in.   "I am Nikteal, emmisary of the conclave. I have traveled a long way and wish to speak with Master Garnet."   "Very well master Nikteal, the master is this way."   Helena led Nikteal to the master's office. The halls had fallen into pitch darkness, the only light coming from the candle that Helena held in her hand. She knocked on the master's door.   "Master, an emissary from the conclave has come to see you."   For a moment the two were left in silence. From the corner of her eye the Nikteal looked as if he was wearing a stark white mask. In shock she turned to look at him. Nothing had changed about him. The light of the candle only made the shadows around his eye seem like the eye holes of a mask. The door to the master's chambers opened.   "Ah, hello there! How can I help you?" Master Garnet asked.   "I was sent by the conclave to discuss business matters regarding the war. I hope you could allow me a moment of your time," Nikteal stated.   "Very well, please come inside."   The master motioned for the visitor to step into his office, which Nikteal did. The master began to follow before turning to Helena.   "Helena dear, please don't work too late."   "I won't master. Have a good night," she replied.   Master Garnet stepped into his office and the beginning of his conversation with Nikteal was cut short by the closing of the door. Helena walked away towards her original task. She was packing up some of the belongings left by some of the guests. One of the guests had a letter they had left, however it appeared to be addressed to Master Garnet. Knowing he was still awake Helena decided to deliver the letter now rather than wait for the morning.   She headed to the master's office. Before she knocked on the door, a sound caught her attention. It almost sounded like a tearing noise coming from inside the office, but no talking was going on. She grabbed the handle of the door and opened it.   "Master I found this lett-" she stopped. On the ground was the body of Nikteal, it had been torn to shreds but was not bleeding. The inside of his body was flayed open and the carcass remained motionless.   Nearby a tall shadowy creature stood. Its limbs were abnormally long, including the long claws at the end of each appendage. It's shoulders were broad and what looked like a ribcage was fully exposed. The creatures head looked like a white doll mask with its cheekbones protruding off to the side and trailing behind the head. Its entire body was black as pitch except for the white mask and the glowing white eyes behind it.   In one hand it held Master Garnet who was completely motionless, but his eye were open. The other hand it was digging its claw into the back of the master, tearing a perfect seam down his spine. Despite this the master was not bleeding. The creature's head suddenly turned to Helena.   In fear she bolted from the room. She ran down the hall as quickly as she could, tripping on her own feet and landing face down. She quickly pulled herself up only to find herself face to face with the perfectly white mask, floating in the darkness of the mansion. A dark hand reached out from shadows, its body blending in perfectly with the background. Helena screamed before the hand came down around her and all the awaited her was darkness.
"Master, have you seen Helena? She was here last night," one of the servant's asked. Master Garnet turned to look at the servant.   "I heard she was going on a trip and wouldn't be back for quite some time."

The Body Stealer

The Furabatu is a creature that originates from Shadowveil. These creatures sneak through the shadows and stun humanoid creatures with a psychic assualt. When the creature is no longer capable of fighting the Furabatu slices into the creature's spine, its claws causing no bleeding to occur. From the wound the Furabatu enters the body. This process kills the individual and they officially becomes a Furabatu's body suit.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Furabatu is bipedal with two long arms. Their bodies are made out of a mysterious black substance that seems to be able to compress incredibly well. Their torso is hollow with the front giving the appearance of a ribcage. The face appears like a mask with the cheekbones protruding to the sides and then backwards. If the mouth on the face is capable of moving it has not been reported.

Ecology and Habitats

The Furabatu originate from the Shadowveil and prefer travel at night. Their skin actually burns in sunlight so they cannot go out during the day without a body suit.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It is unknown what the Furabatu need to sustain themselves. As evidence from their bodies they do not appear to consume any visible part of the body suit that they possess.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Furabatu have excellent perception while out of a body suit. Outside of the suit they have excellent night vision, capable of seeing very clearly in the shadows. Once it has donned a body suit it is then restricted to the perception that the body suit had during life.
