The Master

Where we Begin

The Master enters our story through the life of Licht. Taking a young boy under his wing, The Master brought up Licht in the secluded church, Silverwood. Similar to the breaking of a horse, The Master broke Licht, tearing down his mental and physical barriers through the tasks set before him, over time Licht realized a new purpose. Many years of the same, repetitive, back-breaking tasks asked of Licht, the monotony was only broken by visitors seeking The Master's help and wisdom. Most were passing heroes (some were mere travelers) looking for a place of temporary solace and healing, they never thought much of the boy beyond being The Master's young ward and servant. Some would share stories with Licht, telling tall tales of their adventures, but soon left the next week. The Master encouraged these visitors to share stories with Licht to teach him lessons and about the reality of the harsh world, they lived in. After each visitor left, The Master would question his ward about what he learned from these stories, imparting important take-aways to teach young Licht what would be needed from his skills.

The Master took his training a step further as his ward out-grew what could be provided at Silverwood. Traveling to societies in need, The Master and Licht would disguise themselves, creating full identities as needed for the situations. Learning, in essence, to be a man with no face. Becoming everything from a stable hand to a criminal, Licht learned how to gather knowledge and become a trusted confidant to someone. This power would behove him later in life according to The Master as it would allow him to infiltrate even the most secure socities.

The End

Many years after Licht has become a ward, The Master took on a new ward, Rhystan. Rhystan was a young girl who was part of a slave trade that Licht infiltrated as a test of his skills. Taking her under his wing, The Master gave her the same training regime as he had with Licht, however some years later he changed. He became obbsessed with books and studying ancient texts, drawings, and accounts. Each time he was questioned, he refused to provide answers. One day, he just left his wards, and that is where we leave off for our story. All he left in his wake was a book, a ring, and a letter, but no answers.
